Emma Raducanu

From what I read, she wanted a coach that is more familiar with the WTA tour than the coach she had for the US Open, which given she’s kind of in at the deep end, is probably a good strategy.

Latest on Emma’s ranking and the Indian Wells Open tournament.

This could be a good choice by Emma and her team if it happens…

Oh dear……never mind.

Didn’t see the match last night, but it’s a reality check for Emma. Losing matches is part of learning matchplay and expectations on her are now different after winning the US Open.
2022 will be an interesting season for her, and seeing if she can compete at the top level of tennis over the coming month’s and years ahead…

Rob

It was going to happen sometime and it will happen again, even if she goes on to have a sparkling tennis career as I’m sure we all hope and expect. Her opponent was a tough nut who deserved to win, and it wasn’t a bad match.

Much more remarkable is that Andy Murray won his match straight afterwards with no muttering whatsover.

Just found this report on Emma at Indian Wells tournament… Looks like her support team was seriously lacking - This will need addressing before the Australian Open at the earliest.
Emma’s rise and winning the US Open was stratospheric and looks like it has caught those around her out…

On her way to Moscow next to play in The Kremlin Cup later this month…

Emma didn’t play at the Kremlin Open, but she has just had her first ever win on the WTA!
Really looking forward to seeing how 2022 shapes up for her in the Grand Slams…!

I think it’s fair to say that since Emma won the 2021 US Open title, the last couple of tournaments have been less fruitful…!
Summing up, I think her mental fortitude is there, but work still needed on her fitness and endurance. Recently employed Torben Beltz as her new coach, who previously successfully coached 3 time slam champion Angelique Kerber. Hopefully he can sprinkle some of his magic on Emma from The Australian Open and through next season…

Nice to see the winning smile back on Emma’s face today… Her first match on home soil since winning the US Open… It was a friendly against a good friend in the sport. Elena-Gabriela Ruse, but hopefully it will help her preparations for next season…

Rob

Oh No! Emma has been visited by Miss Corona! …hope she’s OK!

She’ll be fine

Sports Personality of the Year on later - Got to be Emma’s hasn’t it? US Open winner and the most charming personality in all of sport right now…!

Heavily beaten in the Sydney Tennis Classic today, losing 6-0 6-1 to Elena Rybakina.

Went straight out to practise courts afterwards and to have detailed talks with her coach in preparation for Australian Open… Hoping for better from Emma

Maybe she is only a “One Hit Wonder” after all. We do have a tendency to overrate our tennis players.

Its a mind game, it will take time for her to adjust from “nothing to lose” to being able to manage the weight now on her shoulders from the expectation of a whole nation. Also she’s ranked 18th and was beaten by the far more experienced 13th ranked player.

Let’s hope for British tennis that’s she’s not a one hit wonder. But she’s certainly secured her future.
