Anyone else got this? I just picked it up for the Xbox 360 and was very happy to find a Mk 1 among the list of driveable cars, and I have to say, they’ve absolutely NAILED the handling! I’ve been driving it round and round the Nurburgring, and they’ve done a superb job of recreating the feel, handling and sound of the car, especially if you drive from the cockpit view. If you’re sad enough, as I am, you can also paint the car to match your own and I spent a few minutes coming up with a pretty good rendition of Satellite Blue. Once I get a bit better I’ll post my lap time if anyone wants to challenge me
yeah, i got it, but my x box has just decided to have its 3 red rings for the 5th time!!!
Otherwise i would give you a challenge…
I might swing by Tesco later tonight and get it for myself, especially if there are Mk1’s included!
Do it, you won’t regret it I’ve also been driving the Amalfi Coast course with all its twisty turny bits and short straights, perfect for an MX-5. I know I’m banging on a bit, but the handling in this game is just superb. With all the driver aids turned off (which is surely what '5s are all about), you can throw the car into oversteer, turn on the oposite lock and hold the drift in a most satisfying manner.
I’m 43 you know…
Wish you could get this on the PS3 [:(]
Gran Turismo 5 will be out. Eventually. [:P]
anyone else got the microsoft steering wheel, with that its quite fun, and not to be too boring i find it more satisfying to keep the car smooth and not drifting.
March next year is the current release date, so I have read… In the mean time more people are buying xboxes and playing Forza etc… Will GT5 be too late and will it actually be as good as it needs to be to eclipse the likes of Forza…?
Ands of course there is an MX5 in the GT5 free demo that you can go drifting in…

My problem is I don’t have an xbox or a PS3, I don’t know whether to get an xbox now as everyone is raving about Forza 3 or wait a bit for GT5 to come out and get a PS3. GT4 was something of a let down. I don’t have the money for both, I don’t really have the money for one, but I’m sure I can find it.
I’m spending £5 of my games budget on an autotest on saturday…
Im glad its not just me that recreated my MX in the game. The Mrs thought I was being a geek! [:$]
Mr Muppet the Xbox is they way to go. Yes the PS3 is more powerful but it doesnt have enough support from games developers. Also Xmas is nearly here and the Elite is under £200. An ideal present from family or to yourself. [:D]
Rik
i wanted an elite but no one has any in stock!!! grrrrrr and mine is waiting to be picked up my xbox
Wish you could get this on the PS3
Same here, I’m still thrashing around online on Race Driver GRID.
Will have to see how the pennies are after Christmas and look at buying an XBox, unless I can convince her indoors I need one now as I’m fed up of waiting for GT5 to be released, so getting Forza 3 and to be able to drive a 5 will be a bonus[:D]
GT5 will be a better game (unless Sony/Polyphonic Digital drop a massive bollock and don’t include car damage etc), it’s almost inevitable really. The PS3 is a more powerful console what with it being a dirty great black monolith compared to the 360, and GT5 has been in developement for the best part of 5 years. Another forum I’m on has a post back in 2005 that says “GT5 is pencilled in for release in latter half of 2007”. March 2010 is the release date but I’ll be very surprised if it meets that.
Back to Forza 3 though and I bought it last night. £30 in Tesco. Bargain! I spent a few hours playing it last night and I’m on driver level 5, have completed my first season and have got my MX to Level 4. And yes, it looks like Yuki! (ish).
Wasn’t impressed with the GT5 demo but looking forward to driving the top gear test track.
Really hope they have damage in the full game. [H]
Need to sort out a good steering wheel
Lack of damage is the main advantage of driving on a computer, dunno why anyone would want it and it will never be realistic without crash testing loads of cars.

Exactly. GT5 will have damage (there are a number of vids on Youtube backing this statement up and I’m a regular poster on the huge GTPlanet forum which is usually pretty much the first place any GT-related news appears) but as yet it’s unknown whether all the cars will have the damage feature or just the road cars. Either way I’m not fussed - damage is nice sometimes in racing games, but with ones as realistic as Forza and GT it never ends up looking quite right and takes away a sliver of the realism you expect from these games.
Forza 3 does look bloody good and if I had more money sloshing around I’d be tempted to buy it and a 360 to enjoy until the end of time when GT5 is eventually released. That said, at least GT5 will feature the NA MX-5 (and very likely the later models too judging by the models that have been included in games like GT4) so hopefully I’ll be able to recreate my car in that game.
GT5 is now supposed to have damage. Perhaps another reason for the delay, they have to keep crashing cars to model it properly…!
I’ve always been a big Sony PS fan, and left the xbox and 360 to my son… However, I’m beginning to wonder if its getting beaten now and losing ground to its rivals, even if they aren’t as powerful. I currently have a choice of either, as my son kindly left them both behind when he went off to Uni, so I’ve been using the PS3 but that Xbox 360 is looking soooo tempting now… stop me someone…

Realistic crash damage isn’t likely to happen in a racing sim (although GTA4 and Dirt 2 does a good job of it) due to the logistics of it really. That said, if I’m playing a simulator and crash my car or bump it into someone/something, I’d at least expect to see the car show some signs of damage rather than continue on unscathed.
But anyway, back to Forza 3. How do you ladies fancy a challenge? I’ve posted this up on a couple of other forums, may as well involve you too…
