I’m in the midst of my Rocketeer conversion; there’s a thread here if anyone is interested.
When finding a suitable donor car, I decided on an automatic as I figured they might be a bit cheaper, they were less likely to have been hammered in to the ground and the chances were they may have been owned by a more discerning owner in the past. A lot of assumptions there!
Now, not being a mechanic in the slightest, doing a Rocketeer conversion and converting from automatic to manual is at best suicidal.
Things I have done:
- Purchased a 5 speed gearbox from a mk2
- Fitted the manual pedal box
- Purchased gearstick, mountings and surround.
- Purchased Master Cylinder
- Purchased Slave Cylinder
- Purchased Master to Slave hose.
Now, I know where the Master and the slave mount; the troubles i’m having are:
- Finding the correct hard line to go from the gearbox/slave cylinder.
- Finding any diagrams of how the clutch pedal connects to the master cylinder
- Finding a diagram of how the gearstick connects to the gearbox/slave
Does anyone have any experience of doing any of the above? Any help would be much appreciated!
