Just thought I’d share this, it’s the Armour wipes
11 years of oxidising
That’s an impressive result.
Very good.
That’s a superb result.
What’s involved to get it like that?
Cheers,
Guy
It’s these
One wipe to remove the oxidisation then another to seal, took 15 mins for both headlights
That’s amazing. Great job. Thanks for the heads-up Daveya
You can seal it with lacquer, 2k stuff will be tough enough and it will help keep them looking good.
Hi there all, I bought an mk2.5 Euphonic 8 years ago and my headlights were foggy. I was told that toothpaste was a great cure for this problem. I thought this was a joke, but hey how, I gave it a try. The results were staggering, they came up like new.And 8 years later, are still in great condition.
Toothpaste!
Did you just use the paste straight onto the lens and buff over it?
What did you use to polish up? Did it need the usual clear varnish you seem to get the kits?
Much appreciated help with the toothpaste solution

Hi,
I’m also curious about this technique having been a bit sceptical in the past.
Does any old toothpaste work or does it need to be quite abrasive like Arm & Hammer for example?
I just used the plain white stuff, straight on and buff.
Hi there, I just tried a Colgate whitening toothpaste. I just smeared the lens and rubbed it on with a micro fibre cloth, it took about 10 minutes, but the finished results are fantastic. I will post photos, if you would like me to.
Hi clay, I literally smeared Colgate whitening toothpaste onto the lens and polished it for about 10 minutes. I then washed it off and polished it with wd40. The finished article was brilliant. I own an engineering company that specialises in repairs, sometimes we do the impossible, but we also think outside the box…let me know if you need any further help…
That sounds brilliant. A photo or two would be much appreciated.
How far gone were your lenses Woodford?
I’ve just bought these! After seeing that I’m getting excited
Noticed that my lights were showing some bloom again, so I gave them a quick buff with some Autoglym Resin Polish and they were back to sparkling clear again in a few minutes.
Did the rear lights while I was at it, too
@Woodford Those headlights look like new. Great job
@999to5 . I have some of that so will give it a go. Thanks for the tip
The Autoglym is a pretty fine grade polish, so it could take a while if they are bad.
If just a bit of a bloom though, no problem.
The wax content should help with keeping them from oxidising again too quickly as well.
Buy 2k lacquer, easy to use and will protect the headlights for a long time.
