Hello from West Yorkshire! 2004 MX5 NB 2.5 - Euphonic edition - Ultra low miles, is there any lower mileage examples out there?

Unfortunately I’ve not got a low mileage NB but I do own a K plate 1993 silver NA just clicked over 68000 miles.
Oh yes I’m from West Yorkshire too, Ilkley to be precise. ‘On Ilkley Moor Bar t’At’

Yes, it seems a good forum so far. Very warm welcome to a newbie  Really good Oakworth/NB chat. Thanks, same to you!

I think the NB is from Ilkley, after the owner came over from Jersey. You may have shared a passing wave/nod to it
Beautiful NA. I’m a sucker for pop up headlights and very low miles for it’s age.
I love the road around Kex Gill (when there’s no cyclists mind…) so may see you on a sunny day heading that way :sunglasses:

Final Thought…

Another good thing about the Forum is Privacy

I mean…recognize Mad Malc as poster for some years BUT never knew he was ex-Oakworth until he started contributing to your thread !

Thommo just posted…‘On Ilkey Moor Bar t’At’ . Grew up daughter of Yorkshireman…born n bred and never understood this expression until I lived there :grinning:

Yep…and so far …well ahead in the ‘Low Mileage NB’ Category

It’s great for botb MX5 chat and finding things out about fellow owners :grinning:

On the mileage front, I’m aware of 3 lower; one out there with 2k miles (?!) on popped up for sale recently, theres one for sale currently with 6k miles, one popped up on The Motorist instgram the other day at 6k miles too. Theres one on ebay around the 8k mark too, but just a few more than mine. We’re a unique crew the ultra low milers, don’t even know each other

Interesting replies there thanks Chris and Bullit2005.

Chris, I can’t say I’ve seen the NB you own when it was living in Ilkley. What a cracker she is my friend, well done with finding it. I’ve had my Eunos since 2020 and done just over a thousand miles in that time. I’m really aware of the fact I don’t use her enough. It’s original apart from those BBS alloys, I bought those from ‘Mazdadudes’ and got them refurbished at ‘Airevalley coatings’ in Steeton. I highly recommend these for wheel refurbishing.

Contact details or google him.

I’ve seen the Railway Children - does that count? Apparently the youngest girl actor was old enough to go down to the local pub, cigarette in hand, after daily filming.
We stayed in the Oakworth area 40 years ago when the missus was pregnant with our first . On Halloween night 1984 we went for an Indian in Keighley. Trust us to pick the day Indira Gandhi had been assassinated by her guards. It was a bit noisy and tense in the kitchen as I recall.

Its funny you mention wheel refurbishment as mine could actually do with doing! Last set i got refurbished (for a Volvo) i went to Heckmondwike. Steeton is certainly a lot closer. Thanks for the top tip! :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

I also do very few miles in the NB. I sometimes contemplate selling, but then go for a drive over the tops on a sunny day and those thoughts dissappear!

Absolutely! I think they recently filmed a remake in the village too. Always seem to be filming down by the station.

Thanks for more Oakworth stories! Certainly sounds like an experience! :grinning:

Hi Cookie 1057

Welcome to the club.

I have owned several MX5’s and current have a NC 2013 SE roadster as I like a plastic roof. It is 1.8 but she loves the super unleaded fuel and goes like a rocket. I bought her 3 years ago with 35000 on the clock and she now has 43000, and I live not far from you in Carleton near Skipton. I have had some lovely times out the Yorkshire Dales. Proper MX5 country roads.

Thanks! She looks lovely, I bet the folding roof massively aids refinement :grinning:. Absolutely, some fantastic driving roads round ere. Hopefully see you out and about one day :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

Airevalley coatings at Steeton are certainly the best ones around for wheel refurbishment. I know a car dealer near me who deals in high value cars only uses him for all of his wheel refurbs. As a Yorkshire man they’re good value for money too. Now that’s music to my ears

Sure Cookie…but them other low mileage owners don’t really count as they’re not posting here on the MX5.OC forum

Hi Thommo

Cool alloys…one of the few things I’d want to change about Bullit …on my ‘to do list’ and won’t have a problem here in the West Mids I suspect

Hi
Had the same euphonic same colour from new, great sound system, really enjoyed driving it. I’ve currently got an NA 18is 1995 green just turned 12k, had it for about 18yrs bought from my wife’s uncle who purchased it new from dealer in kilmarnock. It only does a hundred or so miles a year which i know will not please many but hey.

Wow, thats extremely low mileage! Sounds like a well cherished and cared for car! :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, i cover similar mileage in mine. I once got stick on a Facebook post for having a low mileage car. I can’t get my head around people being offended by others having a low mileage car?! Yeah, they’re amazing cars to drive, but surely its worth keeping the low mileage cars in fantastic condition! :grinning:

Welcome RSVR_5 to the Forum :handshake:

Yep…even though I’ve had Bullit my 2005 MX5 NB 2.5 1.8 Icon since 2007 [17 yrs] I’ve noticed that her ‘status’ has changed as my circs have

So now average approx 500 miles p.a.

And she’s moved into the renovate/restore category [due to being neglected as a consequence of ‘Life, the Universe and Everything’ for a while]

But she’s no 'Garage Queen as the expression goes

Indeed I see it as my duty to maintain an NB and more importantly the NA for ‘posterity’ so to speak as a MX-5 Enthusiast

So the naysayers of low mileage cars can …erm…Foxtrot Oscar [pardon my language] :innocent:

Cheers for the welcome bullit, I’ve read the forum for many years but a quiet man.
Afraid mine probably is a bit of a garage queen, but i do enjoy pulling the cover off on the few days of sunshine we get up here. I do have a few bikes that compete for my attention on the dry days and kids at school, but i still love the chance of a quiet drive , even the drive to the MOT is a nice twisty country road.
Many thanks.

Nice to meet like minded owners :sunglasses: I feel there’s a duty to preserve my NB as I feel like a custodian rather than an owner. I’m sure a lot of us here can relate to that :slightly_smiling_face:
