Hi everyone
I plan to do a full review of the mods I have done to my car so far, but thought I’d just give a quick update for now until I get a chance to take some nice pics.
In the end, I went for the following:
- BBR Super 200 (I will do a separate post on this after I have run it for a few weeks, very happy with the results so far)
- Anti-Roll Bars (still sat in my garage waiting to be fitted)
- Wheel refurb, done by me in a slightly brighter silver
- New exhaust Tips
- Induction Kit by way of K&N panel filter and open airbox mod
- Steering Wheel Spacer
- Alcantara Steering Wheel
I had already done:
- Miester R CRD coilovers
- 25mm spacers
- Cobalt short shifter
- Likewise Daytona pro shift knob
- LED headlight bulbs
- Alcantara shift boot and handbrake boot
- Blackout chrome trim
- New Yokoharma tyres all round
- New front callipers, discs and pads
- Front splitter spats
- Gearbox and diff oil replaced
- Door closer blocks uprated to solid plastic items
I still want to do the following over time
- rear discs and pads (soon)
- Metal coolant tank
- Fast road alignment (It has a standard Kwickfit alignment right now following the coilovers)
- Rear diffuser
- Side skirt extensions
- A new head-unit
That’s a quick update, I am really pleased with my car, it’s been great to own as a daily hack so far.
The only thing that bothers me is the rattly roof over uneven surfaces when it is closed. I may have to do a separate post on this to see if there are any remedies etc.
Thanks for your input so far guys
Antony

Rattly roof ? Cured my PRHT by attaching self adhesive black foam pads, about 20mm x 20mm x 3mm thick over the male prongs, both left and right, that sit in the female receivers.
Worked a treat (if yours is the same kinda rattle? )
Super 200 and RX8 yellow dot arbs.
The End.
Until you start going on track.
PS I think I may have liked the BBR200 more than the 300. Shame on me!
Im interested in a Mk 3 but would probably want to spice it up somewhat.
I love the idea of the BBR 225 package.
Anyone have it fitted?
I’m sure you will have been asked already but why did you prefer the 200?
The 200 had more than enough power. The standard torque dips and restrictions were sorted by the remap. The soundtrack was brilliant with just a touch of a burble plus minor pops and bangs. Ir revved to 8,000 according to the rev counter.
Even though I’m used to driving a 400hp Mk2.5 I found the 300 to be just unnecessary despite the great job done on it by BBR which made the turbo almost undetectable. The turbo also caused massive heat soak within 20 minutes under the bonnet and along the drivetrain when on track, which junked the gearbox (yes, really). Whereas the 200 would just keep going on track for up to an hour.
If you forced me to have one back though I’d have the 300 because it was also a gorgeous 25AE. Then I’d deal with the heat by getting a spare bonnet to add vents to, painting it piano black (with the boot to match) and putting heat shields on the downpipe, exhaust, rocker cover etc etc.
Great answer, thanks. Yes I’ll stick with the 200. More than enough then for my driving in the Peaks. 400BHP! Nuts
The 400hp car was very well mapped. It would pull from 30mph to 152mph in 6th. As well as being my track car it was also my daily driver. 4mpg on track on E85 and 30-33 on the road on 98 octane. I miss that car, but I didn’t realise it wouldn’t need to pass emissions if I’d brought it back to the UK, and sold it in Australia. It’s still going strong and still on the original drivetrain.
