Was wondering how many miles you guys get from a full tank my petrol gauge is nearly showing empty and the tank holds 48L i put in 41L and I havent even done 300 miles. although Im sure i can get more out of it if I drive a little more sensible [:S]
I’ve had my car since the end of ApriI and done just over 4000 miles since I bought it. I get around 300 miles on a full tank driving on all types of roads but I tend to avoid motorways if I can help it, and I rarely have the roof up unless it’s raining. [:)]
300.7 miles for me to be exact lol, managed to get from Wolverhampton to Cardiff and back, started with a full tank of fuel and the fuel warning light came on just as I was arriving back in Wolverhampton.
I normally get between 250 and 350 miles from a tank, I think - mostly depending on how much fun I’ve been having and how much motorway driving there’s been.
tanks so far, 305, 370, 360. my brother gets 220 in his mk1! i think on a long run 40+ mpg is possible. downside is no fuel warning light, for us non mk3/2.5 owners
filled the 1600 mk2 up till pump clicked , did 200 miles local usage in a week refilled till it stoped , 36 litres so just about 200 miles for £36, mostly steady driving a few spurts of speed but not many
I have a mk 11 but she is in need of a new exahust and a service so that wont help with my millage. I just have to keep thinking that its worth every penny because the “lid comes off” lol
I’ve got a mk1 1.8 & regularly get 500 km to a tankful. Just got back from a week away with alot of driving & managed 540 km on a £39 of fuel - thats approx 338 miles! It worked out at just over 40 mpg - perhaps I’m not driving it right??? [;)]
sorry about that i did mean a mk 1 and not a mk 11 im definately not from the future, We are, well my fella is , changing the exhaust as we speak. he says i should start a project thread we have took photos. Do people really do that lol. hopefully will get more MPG once its been done.
I always get between 28 and 32 mpg on my everyday 15 mile trip to work but most of that is on the infamous “cat and Fiddle” road which i find it very hard to be a steady eddy on. Best ever was 40mpg on a run down to cornwall but my wife was driving then!
99 1.8 mk2, first 3 (carefully measured) tanks have given a consistent 35mpg. Doubt I could get much better, without spoiling all my fun, this mileage is on mixed driving with a lot of dual carriageway driving at 70+ with the hood down. Driven very quietly in traffic, because theres just no point in driving any other way. Havnt measured the wifes mk1 but she gets a similar 280+ miles to a tank so probably similar.
Your new exhaust wont help the mileage we have ss systems on both and its much more tempting to rev the engine just to listen to the exhaust!
94 MK1 1.8 . 400 - 450Km(280 ish miles) per tank mixed driving only 6 miles to work so roughly 28-32 to the gallon. nowhere near as good as the old girls Deisel but much more fun. I think general driving just under 30mpg is good considering what a laugh it is.
My other fun car is more like 100 quid a tank and only does about 200 miles if I am carefull. When I drive that I try not to look at the fuel guage and have tried to condition myself to forget when I last filled it up.
Just bought a pug 206 hdi 1.4, which should be good for 70mpg, however the 5 averages mid 30’s, i still think in gentle driving, 500 miles on a tank is not out of reach.
