How old are You?

I’m 43. Grumpy and loving it.

I’m 51 and on the last of a 7 night shift pattern, I was miserable and grumpy last Friday night but gradually getting happier now 7am is fast approaching.

Looking forward to the driver home in my NC and a couple of days playing with my NA in the garage.

Age bring garages.

Im 62 and happy. In my observations most people want happiness but have little understanding what it means to them. Consequently, many don’t achieve it. For me it’s freedom. I retired at 50. Got divorced. Change girlfriends and sportscars regularly keep a number of useable motorcycles (currently three), travel frequently and value a solid friendship with a group of 5 mates from school days. I’m not advocating it for everyone. But I understand it works for me. Best wishes for happiness to all.

I’m 62 years old, and on my second MX-5.

My wife was lucky enough to be allowed to have a 5 as a company car in 2011 (nice boss !), and we both fell in love with the marque.  Consequently, when it had to be returned at the end of its 4 year lease-hire period, we were both rather saddened.  The company-car replacement for the 5 was a VW Scirocco, but this last summer, we missed the facility to go topless so much, that when the mortgage was paid off, we decided to buy another 5 to be used as our second car.

To us, driving an open-topped car is one of life’s great pleasures, and we can’t wait for the better weather to arrive, so that we may indulge ourselves again.  That’s not to say that we don’t take every opportunity to ‘get the lid off’, even in winter, but driving our MX-5 with the roof off on a warm day, and being able to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the wonderful British countryside is sheer heaven.

Having a sports car doesn’t necessarily mean one is a (boy !) racer, because oddly enough, we have found that, with the lid off especially, we actually drive more slowly !  Now, is that perverse or what?

Have fun in your 5.

Just turned 50 at christmas, bought my first 5 ten years ago. This forum has taken me so many places since…

60 and with two mk1s and a MK2 in the family keeping me busy don’t have time to feel old.

I’m 52 & bought my first MX-5 in 2012 - love it!  Definitely helps to stave off the “Victor Meldrew moments”

Mind your own business.

64 [and three quarters], getting less grumpy by the hour looking forward to retirement in April and being able to enjoy the MX5 every day without work thing getting in the way, however I have noticed the wife walking around the house with a clipboard, pen and paper. What’s all that about?

68 years young…and luvin’ it!

69 soon to be 70.  Cancer sufferer but still love driving my 5’s

64, 65 in April and retirement! More time with my 5!!

Three score years and ten - and some months. Even younger behind the wheel of the MX.

79 years young, The big one next year, had early retirement at 55.

I think time is a variable, it goes faster as you get older.

I can’t understand where the years have gone and how I had the time to go to work all those years ago.

Gales.

72 and three quarters. Retired at 59 to have more time to play with my cars. My retirement present to myself was a nice big garage to house 3 cars and a workshop with hydraulic ramp and pit. I spend most days out there thoroughly enjoying life. (Whats left of it!!!) Do not have time to get grumpy.

60’ish, working full time, running, spinning and generally pottering around, we both have MX-5’s as our daily drives and are currently looking after our daughters Mini Cooper S.
