Got a finger wave from the steering wheel of the owner of an NC around the Kingston/Surrey area. I waved like a mad man in return haha
Still pretty poor returns but I keep on waving. Got an unexpected one yesterday in Tescos whilst I’m checking the oil level ( I live on a slope) middle aged lady gave me a half wave, half salute from a ‘24 RF.
That must have been me!

If the roof is down I do think a thumbs up above the windscreen lifts the spirits of the recipient👍.

Got a wave yesterday from a passing grey ND and a couple of days ago from an NA… 
Been out all morning but gave 2 waves from my ND to another ND and NC and both waved back

I wondered that today when we passed one near Market Bosworth. I didn’t wave, but maybe I should have - to a close cousin.
If they wave then wave back but “we” shouldn’t initiate it. They didn’t buy an MX-5. Obviously just my opinion.

I saw two old Landies cross today. One exchanged a wave, the other was obscured. It’s obvious that some connectivity still exists. I wonder if the first electric cars did the same thing, being as you can only recognise them from the rear😀

I had an early defender and it cost me a fortune every MOT but I’d have another one in a hearbeat! Plus, i could park my MX5 underneath it which would free up some garage space for a few more bikes!!
The SWB we had at work (1970s) was always stuck in low ratio. OK for crawling in London traffic, but anything over 30mph?
Approaching some pelican lights last night and an NA was on the opposite side of the road. We got a flip up of their lights and a wave. Obviously they received an enthusiastic wave back. It’s a great feeling of belonging to an elite community of MX5 owners.

I wouldn’t say the wave is dead but sometimes it’s just not possible if you’re looking out for potholes or other road users.
Got the roller skate out at 6am for a blast around West Lothian & Fife before the roads got crowded. Received a wave from a a dark RF just outside Bathgate to which I could safely reciprocate.
Tried one in france today to another ND (French plate) got a very confused look haha!
