There will be a meet and cruise on the sunny Isle of Wight on Sunday 3rd June, and it’d be great to see as many MX-5s and enthusiasts as possible!
9:00 Appley Beach (Cafe) , Ryde.
11:00 Sandown Pier
14:00 The Needles Landmark Attraction
We have omitted visiting Osborne House from the main itinerary due to the original plan hoping for as many as 20 cars, and somehow we have over 50 cars wanting to join us.
Please advise if you would like to join in with this event.
Looking good Darren, Patricia and Me will already be on on the IOW celebrating our 1st Wedding Anniversary so we are looking forward to meeting up with fellow members from the IOW and of course our friends from the mainland MX5 OC regions…
While we are on the IOW, Patricia and me will take a look at the Fighting Cocks…
Looking very positive, we could have 11 cars from the Mainland…and each car will have one of these Plaques to display…Those members on the IOW will also be given a Plaque when we meet up, just another reminder Darren is looking into a group deal and will have prices soon…
Will you please include us and please let us know about any ferry reductions, especially for the ferry from Portsmouth as we’re coming from our village just north of Guildford.
Good to see the responses on this thread for an IOW visit. It would be great if you could contact and get a special group tariff, as this is what was done in the past and worked well.
I don’t wish to teach you to “suck eggs” but when talking to their sales department it would be worth quoting the number of cars as a softener, as it will be guaranteed business for them.
Love the Rally Plates John has done, so we are getting there
Really looking forward to an IOW visit again, so lets hope the sun also comes out to play
I have had a response from Red Funnel, and they’ve offered a code to use when booking to save 10% from the price. However, when I looked the price was around £90!
I’m still waiting to hear from Wightlink.
We may be inviting the MG club to tag along too, in which case we may be able to save more money on ferries by having a larger group booking.
Wightlink have quoted me £59.50 return. Their group discounts start at 15 cars, but rather than tell me the price of that I’ve had to ask them! It’s £56.50 if you’d get the 7am and 8pm ferries.
Fyi the ferries are significantly cheaper if you get early morning and late night crossings. For example, on Red Funnel the 7am crossing is £33.00 and the 10am is £40.25. The 5:30pm return is £45.00 and the 9pm is £38.25. Straight away that’s £71.25 instead of £85.25. With the 10% discount we’ve been offered that reduces to £64.12, so a saving of over £20.
I’ve alread booked mine for my wife and I Darren I thought you lived over there ? I’m booked on the 9.00 Portsmouth to fishborne . When we did the drive in the past we all met in Briddlesford lodge farm shop po334ry if thi is of any help for your planning ?
