Laon Historique 2026 - Celebrating 35 Years of Laon Historique

Hi Everyone,

This is an early “Heads-Up” for “Laon Historique 2026”, which is celebrating its 35th year in May 2026.

James Wickenden (Sales & Specialist Tours Manager) of Scenic & Continental Car Tours has emailed us, as we have done this trip twice before and it is a brilliant few days in Rural Picardy and also a fabulous day when the streets of Laon are shut off and all the cars, of various marques, parade around Laon, waving to the crowds of people and children lining the cobbled streets of Laon and out-lying villages :+1:

SCCT are kindly offering a £60 per car discount, if you have been reffered by Terry and I, as “Laon Historique Veterans”…so mention that you have been referred by us and book early to avoid dissapoinment!!!

The dates are; 22nd May 2026 to 25th May 2026, so you cannot say you have not had enough warning

We realise some of you may not be able to make it, due to work/family commitments but if you can, it would be great to have you along for this trip.

Here is the driect link to the claendar post that has all the information you require: SOLENT AREA - A visit to Picardie, France for Laon Historique 2026 - MX-5 Owners Club

Solent Area AC’s

Just booked and then spoke with Katie at SCT as we want to go via tunnel staying at Premier Inn Folkestone, as we all did last time, and departing on O8.50 car train. SCT through Mal can arrange block booking, therefore better rate, at Premier Inn. We haven’t decided whether to come back or stay longer and SCT happy to accommodate that for Lynn and I.

Hi Roger,

I have rung SCCT and spoke to Brem, as James is currently in meeting and asked if they can acquire a discount for the Premier Inn, Cherry Gardens, Folkstone, as its only a 6 min drive to the Eurotunnel Terminal.

I await a reply and will update everyone on this thread :+1:

Mal

Two years ago we did this trip and went through the tunnel. We went over the night before (Thursday) which took us away from the bank holiday weekend and it was £62 cheaper. We found accommodation in Calais with secure underground parking and picked up the SCT group on Friday.
You may want to consider getting an Emovis Tag for the toll roads too.

Hi Mal, to get discount do we have to call SCCT to arrange, was thinking of just getting ferry from Portsmouth to Caen and driving down a more scenic route

Howard

Hi Howard,

Yes, you can do that, s its a great route across Normandy and into Picardie. Its best to ring James and speak to him and he will tell you what is in the art of the possible

Did you manage to get hold of James or Kate okay yesterday?

Hi, do we book hotel via the link, or contact Scenic car tours and then book hotel?

Hi Vicky & Roy,

We are delighted that you are considering coming along to this one. The current plan is that due to the early Eurotunnel departure on the Friday (08:50). So, we would drive down to Folkstone on the Thursday (the day before departure) and stay in the Premier Inn, Cherry Gardens, Folkstone, which is conveniently located close to our departure point and go across to Calais and have brekky there. Here’s a direct link to the calendar post, that has all the relevant details.

Hi Mal, I have booked with SCT and have the same package as yourself. Unfortunately Vicky couldn’t make it so a friend(Dave Fosh) is riding shotgun. Are you arranging the hotel in Folkestone(twin room) or do I need to do that.
Regards Roy

Hi Roy,

Great news, it will be good to have you and Dave along with us😉

If you want to stay the night before at The Premier Inn, Cherry Gardens, then you have to book that yourself.

Best Regards

Mal

Hi Mal, apologies, I sent an email as it was the weekend, but just realised I did not get a reply, been a hectic week and not had chance to follow up will try to call tomorrow
