Mazda Dealer recommendation for servicing

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __MY23 2L soft top
  2. I’m based near: __High Wycombe/Amersham
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Dealer for warranty servicing

Seems Millcars Watford is closest to me. Also Bradley Mazda Milton Keynes is doable and they’re offering 20% off servicing/12% off parts in Soft Top Hardtop mag.

Anyone used these or recommend somewhere different?

Have a look at this thread, might be of help.

FYI I just had my first service at MGK3000 in Twickenham for £312

A friend of ours moved from Falmouth to Halifax and her first thought was how much cheaper everything was. She was flabbergasted when almost everyone after asking the price of something was followed. By “How Much!?”

This was at least £200 cheaper than for my previous cars(E63s, RS3, Jeep Wrangler). Do you think this is expensive then? My car is a ND3 on a 24 plate.

I guess the more South you are the more expensive things are :frowning:

Yes, the first service is just an oil and filter change, there should be no other charges on the invoice.

Really!!! I’m surprised that you haven’t got a better understanding of the motor trade than that Malc.

I paid about £35 for a steak in a hotel earlier this month, I’m sure that the piece of meat and accompanying vegetables didn’t cost the hotel anywhere near £35.

Agreed, and we don’t have the invoice, but it would be interesting to see the breakdown… IE how much was charged for each part, the labour rate and labour hrs.

I remember, for example, being charged £70 just for oil a few years back (for an Audi). Same oil could be bought even on Amazon for sub £35 for more oil than was required for the service. Garage claimed they simply charged Audi recommended rate per ltr. I know they have to pay for posh premises etc, but their labour rates should pay for that :upside_down_face:

Which is why I don’t give restaurants £35 for steak and veggies.

My January 24 plate (so a 2023 model) was serviced by EMG Cambridge in January for its first service. EMG advertise in STHT with 15% off labour, oil and genuine parts for manufacturer based service and repairs. MOT’s at £40 with a valid club card.
My service was £208.42 including VAT.
Service £110
Oil £47.34
Filter £13.83
Packing (I take this as the sump plug washer) 2.01
Then the VAT on that.

I have the impression it usually works out cheaper if you ask for the service price before booking:)

I’ve been using EMG Cambridge since 2018, who haven’t cocked anything up yet that I know about and also give some discount if you have a current MX% Owners Club membership card. You can also book a ‘waiting’ service if you want.

Now that is more like it, RR take note  With prices like this you feel you have been treated fairly and are comfortable to return.

RR may correct me but I’m sure the guys at EMG said he used to work there in a previous life.

I think the labour rate in Twickenham is about £200 per hour, Cambridge is probably less.
