They did send me a letter saying if I took one out by 9th November preferential pricing would apply, after that date a higher price level would be in forceā¦
Thought it would be interesting to hear what they have to say at least.
Two times on hold today with wait times in excess of 5 minutes was enough, thought that was worth mentioning to the signatory of the letter.
The published email address of the Mazda Warranty Services Manager (Your message wasnāt delivered toĀ nnn@nnn.co.uk (deliberately obscured)Ā because the address couldnāt be found or is unable to receive email.) came back as undelivered, I have double checked that I typed it in as printed in the letter.
Sure itās administered through a third party company (Allianz), it does come on Mazda branded paper though and offers a service in the Mazda name, not good at allā¦Ā Ā
Iāve received that letter too but Iāve only tried to get quotes online.Ā They give 3 levels, ācompleteā, āeliteā and āessentialā, and āessentialā seemed good enough for what I want but every time Iāve tried the only quote they will give me is for ācompleteā (only level applicable for my car!)at Ā£423.18 per year!Ā So I think itās all a bit of a ācome-onā and probably wonāt pursue it any further.
Ian - Surprised you asked Mazda, whose warranty is normally carried by the dealer who sells the car, Mazda themselves say - āSee the Dealer for warranty issuesā. They will only respond under exceptional circumstances and then only to cover their back. This I know well, from the Mk2.5 clutch problems. I had to approach U.K. directors directly before they became involved.- This, I still think put a redline under my name, as inquiries afterwards remained unanswered. It did however do the job intended. as eventually we did get a good clutch.
Having said that (old news) your post can only be described as confusing, as what you reproduce from a letter from Mazda does not match what you said in the header?
Quote - āThey did send me a letter saying if I took one out by 9th November preferential pricing would apply, after that date a higher price level would be in forceā¦ā - Unquote.
Or are you assuming a non reply means āNOā ? Send 'em the cash!
Gerry, itās an extended warranty after the 3 year dealer managed one has finished, backed by an insurance company.
My header is correct since if they wanted to then their systems would be designed to answer in good time or arrange quickly to call you back and the published email address would work, sloppy.
Ian - I see you point. Extended warranties are widely available, both on the box, through the AA and the RAC etc. Any which way, far too expensive for the cover you get, and probably loads of small print so they are well protected. In this instance, it appears Mazda are offering extended warranties on behalf of some Insurance Company, which usually means taking commission from any deal. Save the premium each year you own the car, and that will often pay for any additional repairs you may need. (Mk 4 gear boxes excluded!)
That would be the only reason for me too and the way I read it the āessentialā warranty should be enough for that. Please keep us posted on any developments Ian. Many thanks.
Surely its carās not car, the first MK4 you raced tried to kill you during the Race of Remembrance in 2015, any very nearly succeeded on day two of racing, it was a write off.
The only letter you are likely to get from Mazda Paul, is the same āgagging letterā sent by Mazdaās barristers to Jon Halliwell this time last year after he complained about his gearbox failing in his race car after only a few hours ! Then to add insult to injury they ran a tv commercial ā now is a good day to take your MX5 on trackā shortly afterwards.
Extended warranties arenāt worth the paper theyāre printed on. They always have so many exclusions and caveats that itās almost impossible to make a claim for anything worthwhile.
