My experience with door bushings is here : 'Just send it' door bushings - #45 by AndyGadget where I 3D printed my own in a couple of sizes. I could definitely detect a difference between OEM, tight and slightly looser fit. At the end of that post I say that I was sticking to the OEM, but a few posts later went back to the printed ones as I did think the car felt tighter with them.
We took these off a project that turned up ,and came straight off, plastic hard cr*p in place off rubber cushioning bump stops, they are free to anyone that wants to have a route in the menders binsā¦
M-m
Just removed them from our car and what joy, the door now shuts beautifully with the merest waft of the hand.
Obviously the penalty I will pay is that the car will now drive like a jelly on ice!!!
I was sceptical but willing to give it a try, so ordered some of the cheap 3d pinted ones.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well they worked but was not impressed with the material used, so I then ordered some cnc machined Delrin bushes with stainless bolts from Rob Bate and imho, they look great and work a treat.
If adjusted well, they should nake no difference to how the doors shut. Mine shut beautifully.
The geezer in the second video was squeezing the Mazda ābushā laterally to show how soft it is. In that dimension, it is, because it serves as a spring to stop the door rattling laterally after the door latch has been adjusted such that the door panel is in the same plane as the rear quarter panel. This function is essentially lost when the solid part is fitted.
Had he squeezed it longitudinally he would have found it to be very solid, as the rubber on the end part is moulded around a steel armature. The Mazda part is not soft at all, except for a thin rubber coating.
Hi Guy,
I bought mine from mx5 parts for my NB. They came from Japan.
I used a flat file with various grades of wet and dry to gradually reduce the thickness until the each door closed without marking the face of the delron- what a difference they make when the door shuts you can feel the improved location.
Take it slowly and it will be worthwhile.

Nic Cox
Interesting thread, ādoor bushgateā
Got my eye on some, not sure now.
Yes, iām beginning to think the same
Funny you should say thatā¦
Iāve read yours didnāt work though
I may buy something that shines now, chrome bling, probably also pointless
May work on an NC thoughā¦.
Iāve seen many opposing opinions on these over the years as there are for most add ons so Iām sure some will get value from them.
I bought some for my NC and hitting track this week: we shall see
SO, i installed mine. Two min job, didnāt need any fiddling, they fit well.
Do they do much? well, hard to say, My impression is that my door rattles less over potholes and the likes, which due to my coilovers, tended to be quite noisy. So thereās that. If all it does is make the door rattle less, then it was worth Ā£15!
