Movies and TV Series Recommended for MX-5’ers by MX-5’ers

Operation Kandahar on Netflix

Can’t find this on my Netflix which I get through Sky

‘Latest’ Movie and giving it Stars ??

Hi Ger1971

Feel sure you’ve done your checks re ‘existing threads’ and have not found this :+1:

But what is happening already is posters remembering ‘older’ movies and movies that have become TV Series or visa versa TV Series that have become Movies

As an avid Movie/TV Watcher since the Black and White/Two Channel Days

What I’m really interested in is Movies/TV Series recommended by other posters that I’ve not seen yet
And me recommending Movies/TV Series to other MX5’ers that they have possibly not seen yet

Any chance you can widen the parameters of your thread

Then I suspect it will ‘run and run’

We have transitioned in to watching movies, I’m still a film man. Well that’s what Netflix still calls them.
No particular one TBH, I do like a war film, probably a true story type of film too.
I’m useless with reme film titles in general but particularly liked the latest one (a few years now) about Freddie Mercury and more recently Elvis, (tiles remember, easy😁) both played very well by the respective actors.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare- Guy Richie film which has some truth behind the story. A WW2 operation
Very enjoyable.
On Amazon Prime

Yep that’s one I enjoyed recently, glad you thought/came up with the title👍

Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom *****

Sky Cinema. Plenty of impressive CGI and humour via Jason Momoa

[Ger…enjoyed our PM chat]

Here in The Netherlands the movie “Wicked little letters” is on Netflix now.

I have seen it, but will certainly watch it again. Hard to believe it is based on a true story.

( Bullit enjoyed our chat as well  )

I also saw a film called “Sisu” recently, a bit of an oddball 2nd world war film from Finland, violent but very entertaining if you’re willing to suspend disbelief and go with it.

Hi All,

As you see I have change the title of this topic.
When I started this topic it was meant just like

The Album title appreciation/ continuation thread

But I think the title was wrongly chosen by me. I was thinking more of a topic where you can inform what movie you have seen,( even in the past) and give some review of the movie.

( hope this makes sense ? )

I want to thank Bullit2005 for informing me and helping me.

I will start of new

Movie : The deliverance
Seen on : Netflix
Type : Horror

The movie was for my taste a bit slow, The “horror scenes” could have been better and there where not much scary fright moments.

Hi Ger

It wasn’t just me but I suspect a certain Area Co-ordinator in Scotland that assisted with the techy stuff

[Not sure yet if tech up and running as no ‘Reply to Topic’ my end but]

Hi MX-5’ers…In the UK and Europe !!

Just finished watching ‘Nightsleeper’ TV Series on the BBC [mind boggling complexities that could arise with modern tech and …won’t do a spoiler…other credible concerns ] *****

But the TV Series I do want to rave about [Best thing I’ve seen since ‘Prison Break’] is

The Bureau or as I watched it ‘Bureau de Legends’ French TV Series I watched via Paramount*****

Crash is a film from 1996, not the newer ones. It’s a rather strange film, to say the least. The heroine drives around in a nice silver Miata. After a few odd scenarios, James Spader rams her off the road, the car tumbling down an embankment. A real waste of such a rust-free example. Afterward, they get a bit frisky but it is all done in the best possible taste. One seen never forgotten but it does have a Miata

That is a very wierd film, and I’m a Cronenberg fan.

Did you see the BBC Breakfast interview with the female lead?

She said three computer ‘geeks’ were put in a room and asked to determine if hacking a train was possible? One hour later they emerged and said, not only was it possible, but they could show you how to do it!

Frightening.

If you have Apple TV (free trials and other services available!)

‘Trying’ has got to be one of the best of british shows. Fourth series now available

Slow horses is also ver y good.

A little tip for Apple TV, get a barclays blue reward account and for the £5 a month fee you get Apple TV (normally £8.99). Need to credit the account with £800 a month but its still a cheap way to get apple tv. I managed to get in while they offered £175 to switch which they may do again ?

Initial D, The first two movies are on Amazon prime. The first one’s free but you need to pay for the 2nd one and for some reason they don’t have the third on there at the moment.
The movies are in Japanese but they’re subtitled and the animation is much nicer to look at (in my opinion) than the plethora of CG generated stuff that’s out there.
The other good thing about it is there’s a couple of (brief) appearances from an NA and the books have a couple of NA and NB’s pop up in them.

A golden oldie, “Final Destination (part 1)”

An easy watch, After a couple of students cheated death, death has found some ingenious ways to k*ll them anyway.

Fun fact, there is even a Miata in the movie

OK Posters

Know we all obsessed with Movie/TV Series that show an MX-5 even for a brief moment :hugs:

‘Guilty as Charged M’Lord’ for the times I’ve rewinded a programme …was that an MX-5 ??

But me finks we need to widen our recommendations or this Thread will not continue to run

Or perhaps we should do as Ger1971 initially desired and just

State a Movie/TV Series and the Next Poster tries to link the Title in the next post?

What do folk think ??
