Just watched the most AMAZING (virtual) concert EVER!!! Within Temptation: Aftermath…mind absolutely blown :exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head: Sheer perfection! Tickets can still be purchased and are valid for 48hrs just in case anyone wants to watch it. Oh dear god, I need a lie down…before I watch it again :joy::joy::joy:

The disc of this evening was Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures CD. Today would have been lyricist and frontman Ian Curtis’s 65th birthday - Tragically he took is own life in 1980 at the age of just 23 as they were about to do their first tour of the US. Ian was a tormented young man in life, and one of the songs on this album “She Lost Control” was a song he wrote about a young epileptic lady in a social care home he was working at. Of course, this condition went on to shape his own life, his lyrics and untimely death. Considered more a poet than a songwriter, he wrote about what he saw, how he saw it and how he felt… Not everyone got Joy Division, and I only knew their successful single “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, until discovering their studio albums some 35 years later…! However, I believe I would have related myself to their other work back in 1979/80… Hoping that Ian, a tormented man in life is resting in peace all these years later…

Thanks guys :+1: shaping up nicely, two tickets (Mrs B and myself) for Proms at Castle Howard, end of August (Saturday) overnight in Malton, then Sunday back there again for Queen show which is symphony orchestra, rock band and cast from the musical! Anyone would think I like music :joy::joy::joy: some friends are over there caravanning that week and going with us. We’re away with our family (kids and partners plus grandkids) in Devon all next week and apparently a ‘shared’ pressy to be given at a party they’ve organised? Mrs B is big on birthdays and I guess this is a biggish one, certainly used to be, back in the day when you reached 65 :joy:
