Perhaps this is the rear that we are being shown!
The thought had occurred to me. But I think the super-looking caliper, presumably with new pads, deserves to operate on a nice shiny new disc…

I agree.
We have new discs for the front but EBC don’t have the rears in stock currently. They will all be new as soon as we can get them shipped.

New MeisterR coil overs are now being fitted to the front. We are doing a full resoration job inside the wheel arches as we go, treating rust and undersealing them before rebuilding.
Fascinating project. I like the Sylva Fury(?) in your first post. Surely that’s not electric? Wouldn’t mind seeing more pics/info on that.
I followed ZeroEV’s NB build and it all looked good. They were keen to keep the spirit of the car so went with smaller, lighter batteries which was an admirable idea, until it got to the range. They estimated about 100 miles on a charge for their system which just isn’t enough. I can regularly exceed that on a run and wouldn’t want to pull in somewhere and sit for a while to re-charge.
Have you any idea what range the system in your car will deliver?
You’re doing some fine work on this and I’m very eager to see how you go about modifying the dash board.
Cheers,
Guy
She is now ready for her MOT. I’ve never bought a non-runner before and put so much time, effort and money into a car I’ve yet to drive Paid £1450 for the car but have spent another £2500 already. The seats have now been stained black and I have refurbished this Momo wooden rimmed steering wheel with a hand-stitched leather cover.
I have a build site on my Fisher Fury R1 here: Fisher Fury R1 Kit Car Build
Finally got to drive the MX-5e on the road for the first time, to have an MOT done. The irony of it only to fail on the emmisions test I should have know really and we didn’t touch the exhaust system, as it is going to be removed very soon. It has been put together very badly by the previous owner, with 8mm bolts, no gasklets and lots of exhaust putty. I’ve ordered a complete set of gaskets, so that we can completely rebuild it from the engine back.
It also failed on this We knew the left sill had been patched up and that we would have to get it sorted but, the MOT tester poked and found this. So she is booked in to an MX-5 specialist, to get a professional repair done next week.
One thing my first drive revealed is that the anti-roll bar bushes are toast. The clunking over bumps was a clear sign, so we have purchased a complete set of polybushes and this are currently being fitted once we’ve cleaned up and painted the drop links, bars and brackets.
Having the right tools makes it an easier job
We have finished fitting the head unit and speakers into the new door cards. The 10" CarPlay display goes in next, along with a sub-woofer
Im confused.
I thought this was going to be a Tesla powered electric conversion ;/
The higher power CCS charging port has been modelled and it looks like it will fit nicely inside the existing fuel filler cap. This is good, because there are not really any other places for this to go on an MX-5. It has to be at an angle, to allow rain water to drain. It is less forgiving than a type 2 charging port in this respect. I have 3D printed a template to test the fitment in concept.
So good progress made today. The MX-5e passed her MOT Still with petrol engine but, we can now do some proper road testing on the brakes, suspension, ride, seating, etc.
Now the MX-5e is road legal, we have been doing some testing to see how it behaves dynamically. Luckily we have Yoko and my daughter’s 2018 ND to compare it with. It is the runt of the litter right now. The automatic gearbox is just too slow and the car is generally slow. The braking system is excellent as it should be, given that it is all new. The ride and handling with the new MeisterR coil overs is also good. It is let down by the wheels and tyres though. The tyres have no grip and are rock hard but they are 15+ years old. We have ordered some Rota Slipstream wheels in black and some Yokohama Advan AD08RS tyres, which will be fitted in the next few weeks, along with a CAN bus compatible TPMS system.
This is an exciting adventure. I really appreciate you sharing the journey.
I was running my motorhome on 15 year old tyres until a blowout on a dual carriageway persuaded me to change them all.For peace of mind make that your next priority.
