Hi all, after much deliberation I’ve decided an ND2 fits the bill for my next long termer.
I’d like a 30th Anniversary edition, so if you’re thinking of selling please give me a heads up!
Cheers

Ooooops
ND2 2 litre 184’s aren’t that common, but 30AE’s… some patience may be required in getting one!
Rob
Yeah definitely. I’ve got time. There were 4 for sale last month!
Hi, just for info, bought one a year ago as a pre reg with 10 miles on it, perfect specification, I’ve lavished some attention on it and had BBR upgrade it to a Super 220, with the lowered springs and Eibach anti roll bars, awesome car…really good fun, comfortable and quick. You won’t regret buying one
I think I saw it on bbr gti page!! Where abouts in UK are you? Would love a look. Bbr 220 would be the ultimate target!
Hi, I’m in South Wales near Cardiff. I went for the 220 with the full exhaust and the GT back box, plus the anti roll bars, i bought it with the 25mm lowered Mazda springs, which i think are also Eibach. No issues with ground clearance it handles really nicely and as I’ve said it goes really well.
There’s two on piston heads at the moment, easiest way is to search by colour, I think you’ll need deep pockets though .
Always need deep pockets for a car on pH
The soft top (what I’m after) is sold, the (30k lolz) rf - good luck to him
I’ve got a 2018 ND2 2litre soft top which is brilliant… Just looked at that 30AE RF for just shy of £30k - Plastic wrap still on the seats etc, so clearly bought it hoping to make some quick and easy money…!
Rob
Hope he’s not on the forum, ha. Loads of people tried it on with the new yaris too and made money from putting an order on.
How much were they new?!
The MX-5 30AE is effectively the maximum amount of MX-5 you can get, and that comes at a price — which is the price. For the roadster you’ll need to give up £28,095, and the RF is £1,800 on top of that. It’s not small beans for what’s largely an enthusiast’s car. (From GT Planet website)
Looks like the guy is still asking the new price back then now…!
Rob
I thought the 30ae made it in just before the 5k increase from new?
I’m not sure to be honest… I guess the only way to know, is by someone on here who bought one brand-new back then…!
Rob
The list price for the 30AE in “C’s” post is correct, just checked the official price list at the time.
Yes “C” is correct. I pre-ordered my soft top and in July 2019 paid an OTR price of £28,095-00. This was soon reduced/discounted considerably shortly thereafter so people like me were s-crewed!
Screwed but you got one!
I’m sure there will be another ‘special edition’ out soon, maybe a final edition? The way combustion engines are fizzling out. I just think it’d save me hassle getting some recaros, brembos and nicer wheels down the line. What fitments are the rays by the way?
If we are really lucky, and before it goes electric, we could get a “35th Anniversary Final Edition” of the ND, or if it comes sooner, just a “Final Edition”…
Rob
Yes I did, but there was none of the expected rush to take up the UK’s quota, in fact the number of cars allocated to the UK was reduced and the prices heavily discounted in order to maintain sales. If I had not pre-ordered and waited until the cars were actually available I could have saved myself somewhere between £2-3000-00 which would have bought a heck of a lot of extras!
