Mx5 nd2 2.0 184 wanted

I’ve already asked about a 30AE as you might have seen.

But after seeing a soul red in the flesh, I’d also consider any 2.0 ND2 soft tops in soul red crystal (obviously not for 30AE money though!)

So if you are looking to sell or know of one, let me know! Cash buyer.

Thanks

I’ve had my 2018 (184) ND2 2.0 since July of last year and can wholly recommend them… Doesn’t seem to be a lot out there at the moment as is “Peak Season”, but good luck and hope you can find a nice one!

Defo a shortage! Prices seem to be insane at dealers too.

Trouble is demand outstripping supply, so prices are strong…! Will keep a look out for you mate

Also have a look out for a Soul Red Sport Recaro.

Cheers, but I specifically want the revised 2.0 from 2019 onwards. I wanted the 30AE for the recaros (and maybe brembos) if anything!

Just bear in mind you’ll struggle to get a bargain, it’s a seller’s market.
Best to buy convertibles in the winter, when prices are lower.

I always thought that was a myth…until I started looking at MX5s

What would you say is a ‘bargain’ now for a 2019 onwards?

Remember also that prices have gone up compared to a couple of years ago…

It also depends on how you are paying for it. If you are a cash buyer, a second hand one is fine, but as I wanted a PCP, it actually worked out cheaper to get a brand new car with the Mazda deals that were around.

I did see a couple of cars that were £4-5k cheaper, but the finance costs were higher. I get a monthly car allowance and do not want to use up any capital (as I do not have THAT much lying around and my wife has other plans for it anyway), so a PCP makes sense - especially at effectively zero % interest - its a free loan.

If new cars are rare, give it a thought!

Cheers mate I’ve been down that road. Was about to pull the trigger on PCP on a brand new one, with the £2k deposit contribution and £1k dealer discount. They said I’d have to wait 3 months + for a crystal blue so I didn’t bother.
I didn’t want to get a red new one as I can get a used one in that colour for much less. The crystal deep 2021 blue is unique to 21 cars and newer though.

That’s fine, just thought I would make a suggestion. I ordered my 2.0 Soul Red Sport Tech convertible over Christmas and got it at the beginning of March. I had a Golf GTi and an NA, but only wanted one car and the new ND with factory lowered suspension and sports exhaust is actually cheaper than the Golf, so I am happy.

Good luck finding a car, as someone else said there are fewer around at this time of year, but they will still be out there, just need to look regularly.

I look, daily. haha. In Febn and March there were a good few. Now there are naff all, any that are available are a bit OTT price wise. But then, if someone else will pay it, I’m stuffed.

Yes there aren’t a lot of 2.0 184ps models about ATM.
Seem to start around £22k for a convertible.

RFs look a bit cheaper on Autotrader.

Cheers yeah, £22k starting on AT. So anything under £20k these days is considered a bargain? Looks like I need to hang on then, unless anyone wants a quick hassle free sale or knows of one.

Might be worth speaking to some of those dealers on AT that claim to have stock, as you could get one on 0% without the waiting time.

Where are you based?

I thought my 2018 ND2 2.0 was a bit pricey when I bought it during last July! Seems to be holding up quite well  I think the combination of new emission rules and Covid-19 lockdowns have affected the market up to a point too…

Warrington mate

Have you tried calling Christopher Neil in Northwich on 01606 41481, they have a few cars on their forecourt…

Also consider an Abarth 124 spider, essentially an MX-5 with a 1.4 Fiat turbo engine, approx 170ps I think.

Cheers but what draws me to the mx5 is the old school lightweight and 2.0 n/a package. I’m not a fan of forced induction.
