Just bought my 1991 MX 5 … Just came with one key, where should I purchase a second? Thanks.
Any key cutting outlet should be able to sort you out, it’s nothing special.
Thanks Robbie, but where can I get the complete key unit,?
(locking, unlocking, boot opener switches etc.)
Complete key unit? Keyless entry transmitter you mean? It would be either aftermarket or a Mazda accessory on that age MX-5. Post a photo of what you’re looking for.
Hi again Robbie, my MX 5 is a 2009 model…just got confused a little!
Looking at that key, it’s a completely different story…
And it’s too late on a furlough day for a concise answer now…
Robbie, he says it’s a 2009 model.
Richard. .
Yes, I only got notified of the reply once he @Roadster_Robbie in his second response. I’ve edited my post that you saw…
Assuming you have an NC1 then the following should help you.
It requires a bit of leg work to pair a new key when you only have a single key, details are on my thread above. You will need a spare key fob of the same make as your current one (I think there’s only 2 types, Mitsubishi and vistion) and a blank key blade - both available from ebay (you can use a 3 button fob from the same year range which are usually cheaper than the 4 button one)
Purchase the OBD adaptor & follow the rest of the instructions on the other thread.
I have not tried this on an NC2 but it may work.
Alternatively pay a dealer a couple of hundred quid for the privilege of having it done for you.
