Hello all , new member here
I have a 1999 NB and I want to replace the roof rubbers on my convertible top. Water really leaks in when I take a left hand bend on the passenger side. Not really an issue for me , however my wife is getting a bit fed up of the inside showers so to speak.
Not confident in replacing myself , so do any of you recommend a garage in Bedfordshire that do this kind of work.
Any help much appreciated
Get your wife a good waterproof coat and hat - or only drie when it’s dry
Have you tried using a silicon spray on the rubbers and checking that they are seated properly - it might just need a wee bit of fetteling to sort.
Good idea on the silicone spray , will have a go with that first , thanks for the tip
The rubbers around the side windows are ridicuously easy to replace; don’t ever slip a certain MX5 specialist in Bedfordshire £100 labour to change them.
Leaking rubbers though might be a symptom of a vinyl hood past its best (the vinyl shrinks, allowing water past the seals).
I did the header rail seal on.my NA, which I think is the same. It wasn’t that hard, although tucking the ends in needed a bit of trial and error.
Thanks for the info , vinyl roof is new but rubbers are leaking. Can’t be the roof , to me it looks like one of the rubbers passenger side was damaged when it was changed by the previous owner. Will order the rubbers and see how easy it is then , thanks
Thanks for the info , will have a go at it myself then
