I think its suits your overall theme you have going on
Im Usually a big critic of mods. However this looks good ,I think it gives it a bit mote muscle.
Taking a dremel to such a great looking car would have terrified me, looks good I like them. I would be interested to see them painted the body colour as well.
The science side sounds interesting, and it would be interesting to hear your feedback.
What else have you done to the car?
if that’s the case you will be disappointed with my latest mod!!
I promise the next mod with be functional (Roll Bars) -that’s the last aesthetic one now guys!
erm a fair few bits - 4-1 manifold, Cat back system, Pipercross filter, yellow stuff EBC pads,Japan racing wheels, tein coilovers,Il Motorsport bumper, bofi diffuser, Bofi Skirts (NA), Motamec wheel, boss etc, alcantara dash trim, gator, stick etc… tinted front & rear lights, carbon spoiler, carbon bonnet wrap…
thanks! im glad someone appreciates them
yep a guy on FB custom makes them - if you search on FB ‘cockroach concept & prototyping’ the guy is called Vasco
Some mods will alway attract some naysayers, but it doesn’t bother me. For people who mod their cars its just an expression of how they want their cars to look.
oooh i do like this a lot - kept it tasteful with the right amount of OEM+ mods
Most of my mods cant be seen (actually prefer it that way)
Full bbr exhaust high flow cats and GT back box + tune, Ohlin’s track & road suspension, corner weighted and aligned by paul rodinson, braided hoses and race spec brake fluid, brembo disks & winmax w5 pads (for track) and Brembo pads (for road use), IL motorsport Chassis Brace Kit, Ultra Racing strut brace, moroso expansion tank and the mods4cars Smartop for the PHRT. (I probably forgot something)
Soon to be fitted but non performance is a Cybul PRHT Roll Bar, working pressure and temp gauge kit by Rotarytronics.
The aim of my first comment was not about modding your car or cutting into the fenders, but about modding it effectively so that its a useful mod (or at least to do what you intended it to do).
If it was just about looks (its your car, if you like it its all that matters). if it was about cooling the brakes - I just cant see it working,
I’m gonna have to have a lie-down in a dark room if you keep this up. Why didn’t you ask our resident composite materials expert before embarking on such a thing?
Clearly, the orientation of “weave” on the wrap is incorrect and will now cause micro-turbulence around the bonnet - creating negative vertical pressure at the front.
Please don’t come running to the forum the next time you are out-braked into a roundabout by a Honda Jazz and run wide on the exit.
You only have yourself to blame. Tut-tut (more head shaking).
all i can say is - when i set the sprint lap record at Curborough next month i can see the other 40 cars from here having wing vents and carbon wraps installed
Can almost hear the keys being over hit with the purists replying in hate.
All jokes as side - i get a ton of stone chips from the track on the bumper, bonnet etc - the wrap is more of a protection piece / couldn’t be bothered to pay to fix all the stone chips - plus it looks cool
They do improve the look of the front wing as in my opinion the NC wheel arch blisters were bit overdone. Before you go cutting holes in the liner drive down muddy lane and see how much mud is deposited. Then have a look at a Le Monday ans sports prototype car… Your vents are small and over the outer edge of the tyres so may not do very much other than dribble some mud onto the top of the blister. On the plus side, if the NC has similar louvres to in the front of the liner to the NB, you could get some interesting f
You might want to read this : Le Mans prototypes get fender holes to reduce airborne crashes
So even Le Mans cars going at 300km/h need rather large holes to be of use to cut lift, and the drivers will accept a bit of mud being thrown up as it will hardly be noticeable compared to dirt thrown up in the wake of a racing car with a ground effect underside.
I do like the look - the wheelarch “blisters” on the NC were, in my opinion, not particularly attractive, and adding the vent seems to reduce the “blobbiness” of the blister.
Before you cut holes in the wheelarch liner, drive down a muddy lane and see how much mud ends up in the area you are going to cut…as someone else has said, some of that is going to come through the louvres on the top surface. If the NC has the same sort of slots in the front of the liner as my NBFL, the airflow through the slots in the liner might end up going through the louvres in your new vents…which might be a less muddy way of making the new vents functional. I would not like to say whether you will end up with more water going into the void between the liner and the fender metalwork.
If you look at road cars, a lot of them have dummy vents added by the manufacturer’s stylists, so don’t worry too much about having a couple of good looking vents that don’t do anything!
Finally, vents on the side of the front wing/fender were originally put there to help extract hot air from the engine bay on cars like Aston Martins and Ferraris…there was a corresponding hole in the inner wing. The reason for doing it was that cars in the 1950s and 60’s had carburettors and mechanical lift fuel pumps which were prone to “vapour lock” when hot air was trapped and boiled the fuel in all those pipes and carb. float chambers. That resulted in cars that wouldn’t start after a pitstop. These days electric pumps deliver fuel at high pressure so vapour lock is not a problem.
If you look at modern cars with a side vent, it is usually a dummy as the holes in the inner wing at the longitudinal/dash junction aren’t good for structural strength. Some high performance cars have vents on the front fender wth ducting from bonnet slots to the side of the car to reduce the airflow seperation on the A-Pillar, but that is real nit-picking detail and I’ve never seen independent tests showing they work!
Each to their own, but I think they’re, well ODD,!
Sorry, but I hate them.
Each to their own, but if the car came up for sale, I’d swipe left.
Thanks for the constructive feedback - good thing its not for sale ehy?
Reminds me of many years back when I was at an OC show event with my '93 BRG “sporting” it’s MX5Parts “wannabe” Lotus Eunos" nose badge.
This family were “admiring” the car…back then it was worth admiring still and came to the badge.
Suffice to say the comments about " a person who would do that" were less than complimentary.
They clearly were not aware I was only a few feet away chatting to a mate.
Suffice to say again they got 10 seconds of my best Glaswegian Billy Connelly style comebacks, one beginning and ending with the 6th letter in the alphabet. I later saw them getting into a Frog People carrier going home…I think it was the last OC show event I took part in…lots & lots of really nice people but just too many pass-remarkable, loud opinionated knobs…like you get everywhere.
The one told me to move my car that day AFTER I had been “instructed” by a Club “Ho-Fishull” with a fancy dayglo jacket…got the same. Sometimes you just have to let some people “know” if they fail life’s Attitude Test.
Literally brightens my day up reading these comments. Each to their own BUT i hate it! Didn’t know it was tinder and we could swipe
I like it My spoiler is still in china
