Not a fan of Mitchell Mazda, very bad attitude experienced in there on multiple occasions. Windsors in Wallasey were much more welcoming and knew how to treat customers, that said I much prefer to service my car myself.
And you all keep paying and moaning
Hi Shinetop (Steve)
Have stated this earlier in the thread, I paid £160 for a 1st service on a 1.5 RF at Oakmere in Northwich and with a courtesy car. You paid £215, a difference of £55. Same oil and filter I guess, plus a few other bits (not many). Certainly worth shopping about.
Thanks Macclad
I will certainly give them a try for 2nd service
Mitchell more convenient…but not £55 more convenient!!
Cheers
Steve
You DO NOT have to use genuine Mazda parts to maintain your warrantee. You DO have to use parts that carry British standards seals and meet the manufacturers original specification. Oil for example has a label stating ‘meets the requirements of’ and a list of numbers, ie MB229.5. If this is met the warrantee must be upheld. This stems to case law set 30 years ago where by the strong hold manufacturers had over the public was broken allowing you to get a third party to do servicing so long as all materials are of equivalent quality and work performed by a qualified person.
Incidentally this is not the case for motorcycles. They must still be serviced by the main dealer unless that dealer states otherwise, they never do obviously.
Case law being as specific as the law is deems motorcycles to be a different entity to motor cars. Madness.
Personally, I think you are VERY WRONG with that statement.
The majority of manufacturers will state if using a registered reputable garage,
This means servicing must be undertaken on time and must use any genuine parts or lubricants specified by the manufacturer.
You would be a fool not to use genuine parts for the warranty period.
As I said above if the car is either finance/PCP they will insist on Genuine Parts in the contract.
You could, lets say for arguments sake “Get a dud oil filter” from another manufacturer and cause no end of trouble. They will quite simply void the warranty repair on those grounds and not repair it.
You then get into the realms of discussions/arguments etc etc and there will only be one winner on that!
Quote from Mazda.
“This will depend on the cause of the failure. Your Mazda dealer will be able to advise you further, which will involve the inspection of your vehicle”.
Google it. It’s case law. They try to scare weak people into following suit. It’s as bad as yours disks and pads need replacing sir’ when we all know they have 7mm pd material left.
Finally from me on this particular aspect of the thread.
Okay and thanks for your opinion.
I certainly do not intend to get into a Testosterone war on the subject.
Google will and can give conflicting advice to the consumer.
If people wish to take on Mazda with all the hassle involved for saving a few quid, that’s up to them.
I said what I said based on what I know, what I have done and what other people have done and what independent garages tell and advise people.
Sure your opinion will be different.
I know which route I wouldn’t take.
(Bit unfair to quote weak minded people too).
Good luck to people if that’s what they wish to do and follow your advice.
Just paid £185 for the first service on my ND. Bought last October, tucked away for the winter and then unused this year because of Covid limitations, she had only done 971 miles !
1st service competed at Gloucester Mazda, friendly staff, health check video provided. £200 all in which I think is reasonable especially coming from an Audi S3 where a oil change is nearer £400.
However after 1 year of ownership the car is being sold as just isn’t being driven now that I’m working from home.
I’ve had some nice fast German cars but none of them beat the Mazda for driving experience.
I’m retired too so my milage will be under 5000, much less last year. What is ND 30AE (sorry) One thing I did learn a hard lesson on my last car was they had not updated the sat nav, it cost a small fortune when I had to pay for it. Who is your local buff?
Stubod. If it was on mileage and not years then it would be worth it for someone like me? But I’m unlikely to do more than 10k in three years? Whats your thoughts on that buddy?
Jim. Thats not too far from me, why did you pick them please? I thought they were an Abarth specialist?
Hi Richard. The ND 30 AE was a special limited edition released in 2019 to celebrate the 30 years since the MX5 was first launched in 1989, you can’t mistake them - they’re ORANGE. My local buff is quite well known in the North Thames area. He is Allan Doodes, his business details are Bulphan Service Station, Brentwood Road, Bulphan, Near Upminster. Essex RM14 3SS. Telephone 01375 891418. But that’s way outside your area isn’t it. Good luck whatever you decide to do.
Richard sorry for the delay…One part Rockingham cars is Fiat and the other is completely Mazda
Like a lot of things in life ‘you pay your money, you take your choice’.
I don’t think circa £200 is unreasonable for a main dealer service.
They have much higher overheads than an independent garage, staff training, special tools, diagnostics etc. Mazda UK always asking them to do better, buy new things etc.
As said earlier, if you want them to be there, use them or lose them.
