Yes there was so maybe the OP has this.
RR sent you vin number
I wonder if itâs possible to retrofit this if the parts are available from Mazda?
My other car (a Suzuki Swift) has this functionality. It uses the forwarded facing camera on the screen to detect oncoming traffic and street lighting etc.
I assume the headlights are the same regardless of if this is fitted or not. I also think that the small green indicator light in the dash is there but inactive.
What do people think?

The headlamps are different. AFS ones swivel left to right, ALH ones pivot up and down plus the LEDs inside are different.
So on my 2019 1.5 Sportnav+ the headlights swivel with the steering from side to side and up and down with the auto levelling.
Does this make them different to the ones required for the auto high beam?
Genuine question as I know very little
Not sure if they are different to âauto high beamâ, whatâs called HBC, High Beam Control. They are certainly different to ALH (Adaptive LED Headlamps). You wouldnât want to buy a pair of ALH headlamps to find out if theyâd work though
I think the key to this topic is to start getting all of the different terminology correct or it could go round in circles for ever!!!
Have my lights set to auto on the stalk, and now the mornings are getting darker, my headlights come on some mornings when I start the car. Soon theyâll be on every morning!
My car is parked facing the wall of my house and the beam comes on, then lowers, then raises.
Does this mean they are set to high beam with auto dipping?
This morning - although it was bright and my lights werenât even on - I noticed an icon on my dash that looked like a high beam with the letter A . I would have thought this was indicating auto high beam but it confused me because I havenât touched anything, and my lights werenât on, and Iâve never seen this symbol before even when my lights are on.
Anyone know what this does mean?
The lights set thier level when you start the car in the dark (nd2, not sure about nd). Dosnt happen everytime, but does happen most mornings.
The head light dash light with the a means set to auto. I cant rember if that only happens if there on or not, been a good while since i drove in the dark or paid that much attention to them tbh. Push stick forward and forget
If the lights raise and fall (Highway mode) you have ALH. Doesnât mean that you have it on. For it to be on, you need the lights set to auto and the stalk pushed forwards.
It a bit of an old video but it explains ALH well I think.
That simplistic video takes no account of blinding oncoming pedestrians or cyclists, neither of whom are likely to show a light bright enough for the camera to think about.
Iâm not sure about this aspect with current rules on headlights, but this would be illegal in the old days.
Thanks Robbie, and Sparkee
Yes that is the best explanation Iâve seen so far of ALH, and watching it last night made me think Iâd inadvertently pushed the stalk forwards, although I thought I hadnât.
Got in the car this morning, lights set to auto pushed the stalk forwards A icon comes on, pull it back it goes off. Perfect.
Back to yesterday though, this morning the light was green and yesterday it was orange. And it came on without me pushing the stalk forwards and stayed on when I pushed the stalk forwards and back and even when I turned the lights switch around from auto to off and on, so now Iâm thinking it was telling me it wasnât available for some reason. I need to dig my manual out I think.
When its orange it means it cant work due to a the camera being fogged up. Not sure if it goes orange for any other reasons, only had it happen when the screen is a little misty.
Ah yes of course, that must be it.
My old car had adaptive cruise control and I remember driving in heavy snow that was settling on the front of the car blocking the sensor and getting a message on the dash that the ACC wasnât available. This is a similar thing, albeit caused by dew instead.
Thanks.
What you need to remember, is that for the lights to auto dip as well as the rotary control being set to âautoâ the stalk needs to be pushed forwards. The default for the lights is then full beam but when a car approaches, they will dip and then return again to full beam once it has passed. It was that long since I had driven my car in the dark that I had forgotten that setting to âAutoâ on the rotary control but with the stalk pulled back that the headlamps would be on dip beam whatever.
They have seen sense and replaced the push back on the stalk to turn on the Auto Beam to a button on the end of the stalk on the new CX-60
Does anyone know if my MX5 has the ALH or AFS? This is so confusing.
2 Litre RF MX5 2017 Sport Nav. It might have the safety package as it has the rear-blind sport assistance.
Thanks.
Start the engine at night with the headlights on auto and watch the beams. If they move up and down itâs ALH if they move left and right itâs AFS. I think a 2017 might be too early for ALH.
Yeah I think you are right. Still I was shocked at how good the lights are on the ND1. On full beam they do light up high and to the side. I cannot imagine how good they would be on the ND2. My car does come with the safety pack.
In the in-car menu I can see options to turn off HBC and AFS. I guess the AFS is the moving left/right headlights. So in models with ALH I assume there is an option showing the potential to disable the ALH?
I canât see the headlights trying to adjust. They do wander up and down a lot and I just put that down to the movement up and down of the vehicle. I am trying to see how to adjust the lights since there does not appear to be a setting?
Thanks.
