ND - where do you keep your phone?

I have wireless CarPlay but it does tend to drain the phone battery so I bought a cheap magnetic wireless charger from Amazon and a short cable, I stuck the charger down with some double sided tape to stop it moving about, it means I can jump in and charge the phone without faffing with a cable.

I also did the mod to enable the touchscreen in motion, which is a game changer.

That’s exactly where I kept my phone but it kept overheating when running Waze and charging. That said, it was a 2018 iPhoneX which may have struggled to keep up! I have recently upgraded my phone so it will be interesting to see how it performs when we are touring Northern Spain later on this year.

I keep a large microfibre cloth (Racing Green with green stitching) folded in the cubby and chuck the phone on top of it. There a phone lead in there too if it needs charging but bluetooth is off as I have no intention of connecting to the car.

I too had the iPhone XS which got really hot using the phone usb socket for AirPlay.

Now have a iPhone 16 and am afraid no change, whether it’s the current running through it or the sun on it , or being sat on top of the transmission tunnel means is still gets quite hot.

That’s interesting, thanks for your reply. I bought a couple of phone holders (designed for sticking on a wall), and put a strip of Velcro on the back to attach to the “carpet” on the side of the transmission tunnel. I have no idea if this will help my phone run cooler but we shall see. The holders are pretty nasty, cheap grey plastic but they are unobtrusive and weren’t expensive. They can be removed or repositioned easily.

My plan B for hot journeys is to keep a small insulated lunch bag with a freezer block in the lockable storage cubby hole between the seats.
