New owner of a MX5 NC

Hi all, First time poster and first time MX5 owner.

I have just bought a 2010 MX5 1.8 SE NC in very good condition, the underside looks to have only very light surface rust.
I believe the car has been garaged for most of its life, unfortunately I don’t have a garage so intend to keep it under a breathable cover when it’s not being driven.
There are no options available to me for a car port or garage currently.
I intend to only drive it on dry days and put it into storage over the winter months (start of October through to end of march) with a trickle charge and periodic wheel rotation.
Given my situation would you recommend having the car undersealed or is this likely to trap issue like existing rust?
If this is recommended could anyone recommend a company in the Norwich / Norfolk area?
Any other suggestions or recommendations most appreciated as I am very keen to keep the car in good condition for the foreseeable future.

Welcome Mooreg!

Gorgeous car! I have an 07 NC and it is my daily driver in all conditions and I intend to keep it for a long while.

Definitely gets yours under sealed after having a professional check it over. The peace of mind it has given me for a relatively small outlay was well worth it.

To learn a bit about the protection process and how to do it best, I’d recommend checking out Anand Viad’s posts on Facebook. He’s a member on the owner’s club FB group and very prolific with his posts. He’s near Heathrow though.

More locally, there are a few decent places near you that I know the Norfolk Fives use. Their AC is @pitcrew_chris and is very helpful.

I personally use Vincent’s Motor Works in Stradbroke.

Most people I know from South East Anglia go there.

My review of his work is here: Vincent's Motor Works Review

Additional bits to check quickly and easily with lots of helpful posts on here:

  1. Cowl grommets
  2. Hood drains
  3. Coolant tank

Enjoy the car! They are great fun!

Lovely car - same year and model as mine😀
Definitely get it under sealed to keep it as good as it is now.

Best wishes for many happy miles.

Super looking car. We look forward to seeing you at Norfolk Fives runs and Club Nights.
I endorse the above recommendation to use Vincent’s Motor Works at Stradbroke, near Diss.
Cheers.

Welcome from Aberdeenshire :scotland:

Nice looking car that. Got that “cherished” look about it and well worth looking after.

Enjoy!
