Just out of interest, where did you get your short number plates made?
Are you happy with the quality?
I’ve got a similar 5 digit plate that needs to go on mine… Thanks

Got them from JDM Plates for £60 and they are top notch quality.

Great, thanks for that - I had seen JDM and they seemed a bit cheaper the 4-Dot.
Appreciate the endorsement too as some for my old registration weren’t great quality from elsewhere.

Looking good, and clearly you are loving it

Absolutely adore it! I find the trip to work on the motorway is too short, so I try and go a longer way home via more country roads - takes 10 minutes longer, but thats the point!!

I worry that I am fixating too much on the fact that I am getting over 42 MPG. I then have a battle of will with myself to put my foot down a bit more as it really doesn’t matter about the MPG…

I briefly had mine set so I could see MPG on Easter Monday last week. Between 43 and 44 mpg which is good… Though with a push of a button, brought up Mileage range instead! I was always monitoring the MPG gauge in diesel cars - That’s not happening with the MX-5…!

I might do this, as I am becoming too fixated on the MPG and it is not why I bought the car. The fact that it sips fuel is great, but I do not need to constantly need to see how little it is using. I spent good money on a sports exhaust and I do not hear it as I am not using the throttle. I must force myself not to look!!

Stupid car for being so good in all areas!!!

Whilst on the subject of fuel, the only change I’m considering is which petrol to use… My local forecourt is a BP Garage where I’ve just been filling up with their “Regular” 95RON. But they do one called “Ultimate” which is 97RON, so am considering using that in future…
Might not make any difference, but then again, it might…

So far I have filled my car 3 times - each time at the Shell garage in our village. I have only used their V power…I am intending to continue down this path, specially as I do not do as many miles as I used to and the car uses so little - however when I went out at lunchtime to get a sandwich I changed the display so I can no longer see the MPG!!! but I did hear the exhaust (with the hood down) so all good.

My MX-5 is a toy and takes me down to the supermarket a couple of times a week!, so my mileage and use is also low… I will use the BP “Ultimate” now, can only be a benefit to the engine no matter how small!
Excellent - MPG gauge hidden, top down and exhaust noise… that’s what it’s all about! :joy:

I have only filled mine up three times since new too . Twice withe Shell V Power and once with Esso Supreme. I do intend sticking with the higher octane grade though. It properly cost about an extra £5.00 or so each time you fill up.
I can’t report any difference in mpg or performance because I have only used the higher grade fuel. That being said “performance wise” it is plenty quick and responsive enough thank you very much :astonished:.
I have just been out and checked, I am getting 37mpg. The car has done 766 miles :flushed:. I couldn’t find out if it would tell me what my average speed is, but it won’t be a lot  .

On a completely different note, here is a picture of the first MX5 I had next to my Dads. He got his first. Mine was the Arctic

The technical guru guy on here said they once tried running a standard nd on a dyno and got an instant 10 bhp gain by simply switching from 95 to Shell VPower.
Presumably because the ECU on the nd can take full advantage of the higher octane fuel.

They dissed it somewhat! Kate said “Steve’s a grown up DI now, you’d think he’d have a grown up car”.
