Hello All

Was hoping to show some sweet painting of my emblems today however, it even appears Mazda take the reliability of their chrome very very seriously as well.

A known trick to strip chrome off emblems is to soak in bleach for 24 hours leaving a perfect inner plastic case of what was once a shiny chrome emblem.

I was going to use to paint black to match the rest of the build. However, 4 days in and the main front and rear emblems are holding up without a single tarnish. The MX-5 Badge is almost stripped but still not yet. The skyactive badge is halfway there. Rear emblem not so much as a mark and the front emblem is just starting to go. Will replace the bleach tomorrow for a third time. I will not give up!!!

Failing the bleach add it to the dishes in the dishwasher; chrome vanishes with annoying speed.

Witness what happened to our OXO Good Grips Ice Cream scoop, reduced to base metal muckite in one wash…  Someone who shall remain nameless ignored the instructions on the label not to put it in the dishwasher…

Hello All

Grand news the mx5 parts rear camera is on smoked side repeaters and LED interior light kit. Badges are taking an age but slowly wearing away. Going to try the dishwasher method tonight. Pics below

That chrome on the badging is taking some shifting!  Typical, if you nevertheless touched it, I bet it would peel after a while in normal use, when you want to remove it, the stuff stays put!  Cars looking good, some nice subtle touches.

Barrie

The badges must be the only parts on the MX5 that wont corrode easily

i do like the rear diffuser and exhaust setup

Hey Barrie

yeah nice to know Mazda are determined to make their badges stand the test of time as well as their cars.

Hey GMC

I will get a propper updated set of pics up Friday after it goes in for some more work. Then a little break after I add the badges. In before the next purchas… rear spoiler… This should finish the back of the car off nicely then it’s onto the side profile

Hello

Yes I am a child… going to a meet tomorrow and I thought to jazz it up for 24 hours why not do something with the tyres. Paint will almost certainly come off in a few hours of driving but… I like it! That’s what counts

Hello All

After some thought and seeing some in the flesh at a meet I will be getting the Mazda parts BBS Alloys. I like the idea they are on the accessories list and they look amazing! Photos soon as they are on. looks like that mock up photo is going to be quite close to the final look after all

Hello all…

My day off is normally a Thursday. This is good news because on Thursday it does look like the badges will be done and I can finally paint them there are few small particles left to dissolve and then using chemicals alone will have stripped away the chrome! Wicked!!!

A.K.

Personally speaking, I wouldn’t put the sky active badge back on…but that’s just me.

Hey Davy

i have something a little different for the skyactiv badge

Hello all…

I’m not saying these bad boys are stripped… but…

A.K.

, interesting that the base plastics are different?

Barrie

Hey Barrie
