Hello all, the exhaust centre section sheared at the weekend and it looks like the MX5 Parts centre section will sort this, however it looks like the backbox has previously been patched up and I suspect it won’t last too much longer, so replacing this at the same time may make sense and an easier job.
I want a stainless steel part, but don’t want to increase the sound. Are there any good options that will just give me a longer lasting part - and one that I can get hold of now (ie: the Cobalt one seems to be forever unavailable)? Around £300 seems reasonable - is the MX5 Parts one any good or any better alternatives, please?
If the Cobalt from Moss is what you’d like then I’d suggest emailing them to see when it is likely to come available again…
I made the decision at the start of the year that I’d like to get one but whenever I checked it was always on backorder… so after a few months of checking weekly I mailed them and was told they would be back in April/May time…
I placed my order beginning of April and have just been notified by UPS that it is arriving today…
I could be wrong, but the impression I got when speaking to them is that they get this in to order and don’t just have them ready on the shelf, whether that is to supply chain issues or something else…?
The mx5parts SS back box (@£349) for the NC had a loud drone, I ditched it after a while and bought a Cobalt. That was a few years ago so could have changed, who knows?
I have a Gravity Performance stainless back box on my NC. Got it on eBay, it’s a good price, fits well and is well built. It ads a slight sporty note but not noisy.
A little off topic, but that is GREAT to know. Will get in touch with them as soon as I’m ready to buy.
goodwin make a super-Q (super quiet) backbox that is supposed to be very good kind of expensive tho I think
Used standard boxes are cheap and mostly in good condition…just saying…
