Hi,
I haven’t posted in a while but have been experiencing a problem the garage cannot seem to identify or fix.
I have a 72 plate mx5 soft top bought new 16 months ago.
I usually use apple play on the media system but when I choose to have no noise at all on in the car Smooth radio will suddenly blurt out at full volume for no reason. On some occasions I have nearly driven off the road with shock!
On four occasions I have reported this to the garage I purchased it from - it has been in for diagnostics and investigations but they say they cannot see the issue and have ‘rebooted’ the system yet still it happens…it really is spoiling my driving experience. I have never listened to this radio station in my life and it’s driving me mad!!
Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone any suggestions?
I am in the process of writing a more dissatisfied and forceful email to the garage I bought the car from…
I would be so grateful for any help…thank you.
We had an old Citroen that had a feature on the radio where it could be set to come on automatically whenever it was time for a news and/or weather traffic (thanks Five-three for making me realise my typo) report.
It wasn’t accurate, it could come on minutes before the actual reports etc.
I just wondered if the car had a similar setting that had been set by the previous owner and was doing the same thing?
I wonder if by ‘rebooted’ they mean a factory reset or if they just tried disconnecting the electrics and reconnecting them - might be worth a full factory reset albeit at the loss of all your current settings.
It sounds like Traffic Program/Traffic Announcement is on; when the radio detects the start of a traffic bulletin, it will switch to that station. Somewhere there will be a button or setting to turn it off (TP/TA) - you will probably have to resort to reading the manual.
Hi, thank you for that…the car has been in to the Mazda service department so I would have hoped they would have checked that but I will look into it…
Thank you…I will look into both those suggestions.
Hi, thank you so much for that link…I have just been out to the car and gone into the radio menu.
At the bottom the TA symbol was indeed red. It is no longer red…now I will wait and see!
Keep your fingers crossed and I will let you know!
