Sat chilling in lounge :expressionless:
Listening to some jazz while Mrs B is working upstairs finishing off a report for work! So took a few pics, as you do :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks Roger, yes I couldn’t believe it when it popped up on ebay :+1: I just wish I could understand whats in it! TBH, I love things like that, especially with the notation inside the front cover! Real names of real people, I did wonder about trying to contact the service guy? I think I’ve left it a bit late though

It will certainly help the service guys though! :+1: :+1:
PS: I’d photocopy it and send them the copy, just in case, you never know.

Good idea Roger :+1: those manuals are a great resource! I’ve tried and tried to get one for the AIWA cassette decks but not been so lucky. A short production run back in 1977/8 I guess? Still on the look out for the contemporary TT for the LEAK stuff, a LEAK badged Lenco/Goldring GL75 but they’re becoming rather expensive nowadays for a good one. A chap I’ve spoken with off ebay has one, fully refurbished but its £420 and collection only, in London unfortunately.

Barrie, there is another one listed as working and in good condition in Denbigh for £399.00 or best offer + £17.95 p&p if you’re interested. Wanna haggle? Might be worth it!

Thanks Roger :+1: TBH, the chap off eBay restores all the old idler drive Goldring Lenco range, new perspex covers, improved spindle bearings, tone arm bearings, idler wheels etc, they’re like new when he’s done with them? I have a full accessory set for one including 45rpm adaptor, antiskate weights, manuals, printed alignment protractor etc etc. Just need to pluck up courage to buy the TT to go with It!

I remember back in the early 80’s buying a 2nd hand Thorens TD166 turntable for £25 - Bargain! Ran it through a Creek CAS4040 amp and Acoustic Research AR18 speakers… Added my first ever CD player, a Marantz CD84 in 1986… ! “Borrowed” pics from internet as have none of my own…!

Excellent, I am (was) really bad myself at making sure I had pictures for my cars/motorbikes/ HIFI/etc. Never gave it a thought back in the day. Nothing wrong with ‘borrowing’ internet pics to illustrate posts. :+1: IMO.

Hi Andrew, hope you are well? I feel like I’m reliving my youth! I just love the AIWA silver front stuff from the 70’s.
I might swap out the Audio Technica deck for the AIWA AP2200 deck I have upstairs? Equally nice TT, with auto return which is a nice feature. Ironically, it doesn’t have 78rpm unlike the brand new Audio Technica, which does? More of an AIWA ‘stack’ then :+1: (apart from the Pioneer audio timer).

Fine thanks Barrie. I find these older systems great/interesting to look at as well as sounding good. I’m not sure you would get much interest if a picture of a smart speaker was posted on here.

Yes they certainly have a ‘look’ which puts them in a certain time period! :+1:

I’m also attracted to shiny stuff and bright lights! this type of equipment has it in spades! I think it’s an illness if I’m honest!

Still have mine, works fine. Mate gave it to me in the mid 90’s I think.
Powers up my workshop bookshelf Celestions ( £30.00 mint and boxed off Fleabay) speakers via a weapons grade 8o’s Sony receiver. Cannot recall which but it’s about the size of a breezeblock.
I bring in for winter though, as I do the receiver, bubble wrap them and pop them on the loft.
Cannot imagine sub zero condensation would do them good.

Cool! I think it was over £400 back in around '86! Funnily, I remember the delay when pushing the open tray button and waiting for it to open! Still using Marantz gear, PM6004 Amp and CD6004 Player, Monitor Audio Bronze 5 Floorstanders - Not retro, but good budget gear :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey, I was there too, at Charlton’s ground for that Who concert. Although I was way across the other side of the ground from the stage (the band were just tiny dots) the sound and atmosphere was great. . .

Me too
Just too far away for a decent experience.
Unlike when I saw them at the Hammersmith Odeon and was right under the stage, about 10 feet in front of Roger Daltrey.
Amazing, just amazing…
