Hi…my petrol powered RF badge is on the cover of the storage between the seats. Also, I was sent a bottle of Bollinger with two glasses from Mazda UK…which was nice!
Hi Dave - Is it a sticker or a ‘proper’ badge (and no - I don’t have one).
Did you mean Robbie that the ‘special badge’ is a sticker applied by the dealer?
If so that might make sense since my set of user manuals are for a Mazda 3 (and none of the warranty stuff filled in). So maybe they applied the diesel sticker instead of the launch one.
Have to say I’m totally underwhelmed by the dealer at the moment.
You got a bottle of Bolly Dave - I wasn’t even offered coffee when I collected mine
The sticker in the door shut. It comes in a box with the literature, sounds like the boxes got mixed up. I’m not sure if the number plaque comes already applied or if that comes in the box too.
Good idea contacting Mazda - I shall do so (when I can find an e-mail address!)
It’s been such a shame. The car is absolutely fantastic. But it should have been an exciting pleasant collection of the car - all this has taken the edge off the whole experience.
I could go on at length about shortfalls in my ‘Mazda Experience’ - I’d fill the page.
Another example: Dealer finally e-mailed me today (after 4 days) - “they’re trying to find the right box of manuals”.
I e-mail and ask where the PDI is. I get back a single page pdf - warranty details and European Assistance “Expired - No warranty start date available”. No PDI checklist.
It does though tell me that odometer shows 5 miles when the PDI was done - a day before I was told the car was being delivered to them.
When I collected the car it had 11 miles on it. Well, dealer rang me this afternoon. I think he gathered I’m not a happy bunny.
They’ve found the correct ‘box’ and yes my ‘plaque’ is in it. He’ll also send me a printout of the PDI.
I ask why the car had 11 miles on it when I collected but had only 5 miles when the PDI was done - I didn’t sign up to buy an ex-demo car no matter how short the joyrides.
“No it’s not been used for demos. When they do the PDI they stick any figure in - they wouldn’t have looked at the odometer.”
Really?? Some thorough PDI that is. Mind you presumably it was the same PDI person that christened my car as being a Mazda 3 diesel.
I don’t have a lot of confidence of this car having been correctly prepared. Would you?
Sorry. Rant over I’ll save it for Mazda UK. Though, in all seriousness, I think I’d be happier if it was checked over by a competent dealer.
I completely agree with AndyMk2, you should report the awful standard of this dealer. There’s no way this sort of sloppy pre-delivery service should happen, they can’t be that busy surely. Good luck!
Part of the PDI process does include a road test, the dealer most likely had to take the car to a fuel station too, I wouldn’t be too hard on them about that. Mazda’s come from the factory with about 5 miles on them already.
You’re right, of course, Robbie. It’s just one thing on top of another really. Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t have raised it. In fact I noted the mileage when I picked the car up but didn’t take them to task about it.
Six miles to get petrol (and road test along the way) is plenty - but we know that once you start driving 'em it’s hard to stop
Hi S, so sorry to hear of your experience, I feel for you. May be there should be at least a free service in it for you to soften the blow.
There should have been two small rubber oval shaped bungs in the PDI kit that go in the sills at either side to stop water entering. Have a look under the sills roughly in line with the front edge of the door handles and check that they are there. If they are then it indicates they did something right but if they are not you can add it to your ammunition box. They are hard to see with the car on the ground but you can feel for them. A mirror could help. If you find a hole they are missing.
Once you get this trauma out of the way and start to use the car all this will fade into the past and joy and happiness will return.
