RH Classic Insurance

I just wanted to post a quick note saying how great RH Classic insurance have been (and no, I promise I dont work for them!). As I am 24 and have 0 years no claims I was about to give up but after about two days of ringing around every insurance company in the world these were actually the last company on my list. I spoke to real person who asked relevant questions (what cars have I owned previously as oppose to just my age) and they gave me a great quote of £220 for my H-Reg import which was about £500 cheaper than anywhere.

Would recommend them to anyone!

Sounds a very good deal for your age.

Brilliant deal there mate. Will have to remember them come renewal time. Have you got their details you can post up please?

I am ultra-low risk and they are very cheap for me too!

I’m guessing its this http://www.rhclassicinsurance.co.uk/

Yeah that’s the one-  01277 206911its definitely worth calling as opposed to using the website though

I have insured with  RH for several years now & they have been superb. Just insured my latest roadster with them, a 92 eunos, JR supercharged, with several other mods declared …£140 Big Smile.

£140, thats incredible.  I’m with A Plan Insurance which costs me £330 for a modified policy, but doesn’t included Turbo/Supercharged, come next Feb I’ll be giving RH Insurance a bell to see how they compare.

I know. I was very apprehensive when I was running through the list of mods to them  & then getting to the supercharger,…I was scared! . When I was told how much it was I had to ask him to repeat it as I thought I must have misheard. I should not really have been surprised as my standard j reg 1.6 is only £100.63p. Both are limited to 5k miles a year but it includes breakdown & legal. It does help however, them both being over 20 years old .

My vote goes to RH for club insurers.Thumbs up

Although they don’t do track day cover.Sad

Sounds good, ill save their info and give then a ring come renewal time, I’m paying about £300 for me and the wife, and I’m an old fossil

Does the car have to be kept in a garage over night, as that a stipulation with some classic car policies?

It would be if only I had one.Cry  Mines kept on the drive but I think it can be kept anywhere.

Well worth considering a classic policy. They often have downsides (limited miles, often no no-claims accrual, etc) but for a second car it’s perfect.

Mine came in at £202 this year with Chaucer Specialist Vehicles.

RH have just quoted me £196 for my Mk2, including all declared modifications, (wheels, K&N, mohair hood, steering wheel, strut brace, leather seats, brakes, (EBC disks + pads), Stainless back box),  alarm).  This beats my current, Admiral and also Adrian Flux. by about £30 Big Smile

Will give them a chance to quote next renewal.

We went with RH, £210 or so for the year which was not bad as it included breakdown and recovery both here and in Europe, plus up to 90 days per trip aboard which is a more sensible length of time.  What bugs us is that our car has to be locked away in a garage between 10pm and 8am.  We do not have a garage, like a lot of places in the villages around here in deepest Somerset, and rent a garage in a nearby village, but we would have liked to be able to leave her outside the house some nights but if we do she’s not covered by insurance, but she is if we are away on holiday and leave her outside the place we are staying at apparently, which seems weird.  We may have to rethink who we insure with when it comes up for renewal.

They’ve just quoted me (47 years old) and wife for 92 Eunos unmodified £119 for the year, parked on my driveway. Thought that was an OK price - 5000 miles per year.

Yeah it’s really more ‘cherished car’ than ‘classic car’ - the idea is that you’re more likely to take care of it than other cars…but if you drive it as an everyday car the risk is no lower so specialist firms aren’t interested.
