Sanyo Mazda NVA-SD8110 EU LIVE Mk3/3.5 Sat Nav - anyone got one?

Anyone got a newish phone which works with the text feature yet over bluetooth? The above list still hasn’t been updated.

I would like to change my phone and Vodafone couldn’t help.

Quite a few venture owners on this thread, might be interested in this, 12 month subscription for £20. Strike that I have just tried it and everything except the Mazda unit is £28.50.  The £8 discount works but reduces our service from £55 to £47…strange that TomTom should charge differently for exactly the same service in Mazda cars to all the others.

Logged a call with Tomtom asking then to fix price error Confused. Not holding my breath as we’re a captive market…

Any other Venture owner noticed that Google search is coming up with 'feature no longer available please refer to Tom Tom website?

Mazda have released a technical bulletin about the Google feature no longer being available. I’ll try and get it posted up if it looks publishable.

It’s heavy going to read but the bulletin is here on how to update your sat nav. Visit your dealer or contact Tom Tom if you need more help.

Great thanks - once again the forum proves it’s worth - have downloaded and will put to one side for when I have a decent amount of time to read it!

Thanks again

So having paid an overpriced subscription to tomtom for a service they then withdraw part of it. Wonder if we shall get a rebate. I like the venture but the sat nav is fast becoming a negative point, There are many better units out there than the half baked Sanyo tomtom affair that we have

and this morning after the latest upgrade it’s been behaving a bit strangely at first. No sound from the usb until I switched to FM and back, then it stayed on the radio display rather than the usb song details whilst playing from the usb, then it wouldn’t go back to the map display (pressing ‘2D’) until power cycling. And now I think it ignores tracks on the usb that do not have album tagging… investigating that one tonight. After those funnies - it is working ok.

Question, is this a standard dual head height, just if I was tempted to replace for a proper audio unit?

There will be no rebate as they have replaced google search with a TomTom search. Interestingly my unit has not come up with the message warning me about the loss of google search, my subscription expired on 3-12-12 and I havent updated it with my pre paid card that I got however on 1-12 12 it should have told me about this change, according to the bulletin.

I must admit I wont miss google search, I only used it once to see how it worked.

New problem. After 8 months working fine, today my unit stopped displaying the current time! It just shows _ _ | _ _ on each page. I’ve updated the software without success.

GPS seems fine (all routes/times start from 12:00).  Audio system seems OK, too.

Anyone have any ideas?

Replying to my own question, here: I’ve managed to set the clock manually. There was no apparent way to ‘sync’ with the GPS. Is this normal?

I assumed the time was set automatically.

Has anyone bought updated maps? I thought there was some sort of map guarantee and if they produced an updated one within some timescale fo buying the unit you got it for free.

I plugged my SD card into the pc before the 3 months trial was up to see whether I was due any updates but it didnt say so. I have now plugged it in again and surprise surprise there have been 8 map updates…but guess what its going to cost…not full price of £75 but only £52.46.  Scam eh, less than a year old and I am 8 maps out of date…

Just unplugged my SD card and the tom tom software eventually started up after a couple of upgrades.

It’s offering me a “year” of maps for £59.96 (reduced from £74.95).

So the price seems to have gone up just from last week already!

Hello, sorry if this has already been covered…I have just purchased an 2013 MX-5 Venture. Whilst Im VERY happy with the car, the audio seems outdated…i have tried to connect an iphone 5 and an ipod nano (7th gen) to the AV cable provided (with an Apple AV cable and an Apple 30-pin to lightning bolt connector)…but with no success at all. No audio and ‘accessory unsupported’ sign.

…Has anyone else had this issue? would this be a firmware upgrade requirement or should I just accept that I have to by outdated products to serve my new car!!?

Cheers.

C

The Apple lightning connector does not pass out any analogue signals which was the case with the old 30 pin connector - they have reduced the size of the connector at the expense of reducing what is available from the device. Effectively, this means that you will not be able to use any Lightning connector equipped Apple devices with the Sanyo unit in the Venture even if you use the Apple Lightning to 30 pin adapter. (I am assuming that the 2013 Venture uses the same unit as the one in my 2012 Venture - if not, sorry!).

Agreed - not good and this is another “missing” feature alongside the unit’s inablility to automatically adjust for BST/GMT changes.

Alan

Well thats fairly poor isnt it…!! Thanks very much for the info, I will have to seek out an older 30-pin ipod just for the car then.

Thanks again. C

I’ve been using a bluetooth to 3.5mm adaptor and controlling from the Iphone ( it was 6 quid on ebay), however I’ve just ordered one of these which i hope may work better and also hope will enable control of the iphone to be sent out across bluetooth from the head unit

For 13 quid its worth a shot and if it doesnt work there i have an ipod dock i can use it on inthe house.

Had stuff from 7 day before and its always been fine and has the added advanteage of a money back guarantee if it ends up being compeltely useless.

Should have it with me by early next week so will let you know if it works.

Stuart

Oh and correct, the audio / sat nav unit is completely outdated, i was amazed at how many features were missing that i get in even the most basic of hire cars.

Probably should have inclided the link to what i’m going to try

Full muppet mode is obviously in force

Thanks for the link ;-)

Looks interesting, im intruiged to hear whether this works…i have a feeling that the MX-5 sat nav module is hardwired to only accept ipods up to 6th gen and nothing else. So please keep us informed!!

I would assume also that your 2012venture has the same module as my 2013.
