Seat back bar covers

i have purchased a pair of brushed aluminium back bar covers for my 2009 Mk 3.5. They are genuine Mazda Parts. Has anyone had experience of fitting these. It looks like i need to remove the standard manufactured back bars first then just replace them with the new ones but I’m not sure how to get the original bars off and don’t want to cause any damage.

I take it that you are sure that these are replacement back trims and not just clip-on ones as many are. If so just remove the front trims by prising them off (I found it easier if you start at the bottom) and you will see that the back trim is held in place by two screws, one each side. Just undo and pull it upwards.

See the following link:

Genuine ones will have 2 screw holes on the inside, stick on ones wont.

Proceedure for fitting genuine ones is as follows:

Pull off the front part of the hoop cover, this is held on only with clips, so will yield with a firm tug.

When the fronts are remove, remove 2 x cross head screws and slide the rear part of the cover upwards.

Refitting is the opposite, although you will have to slide the screw hole over a metal tab, so a small amount of patience is required.

The front part just clips back in.

your advise was great I bought the genuine Mazda parts and it took me less than 10mins to install both bars. They look great.

Can I ask what colour you took off or are they broken ??

The ones I took off were the original Maxza black ones. Undamaged. Mike
