This evening I downloaded the āSilverstone Ticketsā app and while I did not let it have access to my contacts and photos etc, there were my tickets and programme voucher.
BUT the QR symbols on each ticket are masked with a āTicket not yet activeā message.
This was also the case in the LTA app when we went to Edgbaston tennis a few months ago, and they were only activated on the morning of the day we had the tickets for! Fortunately our hotel and its wifi was only a few minutes away.
I assume Iāll be able to āactivateā these at 6.30am before I leave the houseā¦
Hey! Got my tickets for displaying the car at Silverstone Festival. Exciting to be coming down from Scotland for it.
Was wondering how the parade lap stuff works? Iāve seen the time slot in the programme and read somewhere to meet at the club display at lunch time. Are the instructions given there or am I missing them somewhere? Not sure what time lunch time is either! Apologies if Iām being daft, insight would be appreciated.
You will be given a time when you arrive, to be back at the Club tents on the Saturday for instructions and preparation to get on track, the good thing with where we are is that we can almost drive straight off the stand onto the track.
Weāve had an update from the organisers for the Parade lap on Saturday.
All drivers and their passengers are required to complete a sign on sheet (included below).
Our parade with about 200 booked, is the biggest of the entire show - your help is requested to help us get through the sign on requirement as best as possible.
Where possible, please download the sign on sheet, print out, complete and bring with you to help us save as much time on the day.
Please bring your sign-on sheet to the Club Tent to be issued a wristband (please check with us on the day for any timings as the wristbands may not arrive until mid morning.
All listed on the sheet must be present when wristbands are issued. No wristband - no access to the track for the parade.
The number of people in any car cannot exceed the number fitted seats and safety belts must be worn.
Our parade is scheduled between 13.10 and 13.40.
provisional timing Drivers should assemble at the Club Tent for 11.45am as vehicles will need to move to the track preload area around 12pm
Passengers under 18
Please have the form signed by parent or guardian. Passengers must be over 12 and at least 135cm tall. If passenger is aged under 16 your hood should remain up for the parade.
On Parade
When it is our turn to enter the track, you will be instructed by the track marshals to move from the holding area onto the track;
Cars should take up a 2-abreast formation.
Cars must not overtake other parade cars or the Course Cars, unless directed to do so by the Course Car driver.
Drivers must keep to the speed set by the Course Cars.
There must be no holding back then accelerating, no hard acceleration and no hard braking. Such driving standards will not be tolerated by the event organisers.
We will exit the track at the same point of entry. When exiting the track, follow the directions of the marshals for getting back to our area, even if this is driving past the area to be fed back in
Please drive a smoothly as possible at this time to get back on to the stand - it is going to be an exercise to get all off the track - help us to help you all get back in, safely and as quickly as we can.
just to add there will also be some in the tent, but it will save a great deal of time with the numbers coming if you can download a form and bring it with you.
Iāve done this a parade in a Seven before, and itās an interesting insight into what is now our only F1 track . As you drive into Copse (RH after old pits ) at a steady 55mph , spare a thought for the speed Lewis and Lando were entering that corner last month . 185mph ā¦
I have downloaded the sheet for signing, but I see at the top it says Car Cub / Organisation :HSCC (Historic Sports Car Club) should this not read MX-5OC, otherwise this may cause more confusion on the day
Thanks for the form, Iāve downloaded and printed a couple of copies. All we need now is the weather forecast to play ball. Looks like sunshine and showers most of the day (early days and hopefully itāll blow away come Saturday!) Fingers crossed!
With so many cars thereās an amazing opportunity to do this parade properly, with all the Mk1ās first, Mk2ās⦠etc etc as a real showcase for the car, the evolution of models and the club! (But donāt get my mild OCD started and want it grouped by colour too haha)
We have tried that in the past - the difficulty is the Silverstone track Marshals will load the cars as they need to, not as we would wish them.
Will be trying to work with them to see how they might look to do it this time and get them lined up ready for that, but it is going to be a mighty effort to get everyone ready!
Maybe a quick driver briefing on the club stand in good time before our ācall timeā. If weāre all given our orders from the club representatives we can all help you so that itās less like ājuggling catsā!
I guess theyāll take us pretty much in the order we drive down towards the access gates? (especially if thereās so many!)
Our instructions will be received from the track team on Saturday morning. we will brief all members on the day, then arrange to load onto the track - due to our proximity to the old circuit access point, we may have specific instructions applicable to the number of vehicles we have for the parade.
