Meet at B&Q (Norwich) South car park NR4 6FB at 9.15am for 9.30am departure with B roads run of about 45mins to Snetterton circuit.
We can catch up with the Javelin Track Day which is always interesting and a bit of fun. We usually spend time in the pits chatting to owners in addition to watching the action on track. There’s coffee available but breakfast stop comes later. About an hour here will suffice, then another 45mins run will bring us to the Broken Egg café where members can take on fuel. Best to do this here as refreshments later are limited.
Eventually we shall head off for a short run to the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton. In 1972, a few local enthusiasts met and decided that steps should be taken to record something of the history of aviation in the Eastern counties, and preserve aircraft and artefacts. By 2014 the collection comprised 66 aircraft (including cockpits), and more than 30,000 smaller artefacts. 11 aircraft and 6 cockpits are displayed outdoors but everything else is on view within themed buildings for the Royal Observer Corps No. 6 Group, the 446th (H) Bomb Group USAAF, RAF Bomber Command, RAF Air-Sea Rescue & Coastal Command, and local aviation from the pioneer years to the present day. I should add that there’s a lot more to the N&SAM join us to find out. Entry is normally £10pp but for us it’s £5 pp.
Leave about 4pm, return route of about 40mins to Harford Bridge, Ipswich Road, Norwich next to junction A47/A140. Members can peel off enroute or find a more direct route for home.
The Broken Egg Café requires our orders in advance so please see the attached Menu and let me know your choices – there may have to be a cut-off time for booking onto this run in light of advanced food ordering.
David, welcome hope you enjoy the day. It will be a spirited run to Snett where we’ll see not only what’s happening on track but also hope to chat with some owners who are there for the track day. No charge to us mere spectators. Then a run to Harleston for grub. Afterwards just 10mins to Flixton for the N&S Aviation museum. I always have a return to Norwich route planned but folk are free to make their own way home or leave us at an appropriate place for getting home. D
