Steering fluid change NC

Is there any point changing the steering fluid?
Car is presumably on the original fluid, so it is not young, but is this a service item or pretty much indestructible?

And a similar question, is there any benefit in changing clutch fluid?

Not looking to create work for myself, but am trying to do a top to bottom service as the car is new to me.

Full PAS flush and change

Hello! Recently decided to relive my youth and I’ve bought another MK3 1.8 as a bit of a project! Among other things, one of the maintenance items I want to do is a full PAS flush and fluid change, and I can’t think of the best way to do this. I’ve done the turkey baster method before… Its a pain, takes forever and in my experience doesn’t give the best results. Always good to change brake and clutch fluid on a regular basis.

Do a dip test on the steering fluid. If clean red ATF, leave it be. If black then yes, see the various options explored before the successful resolution in this thread!
Clutch fluid shares the brake reservoir, and the clutch bleed should be done at the same time as the brake and every couple of years (depending on usage) because it is hygroscopic.

Thanks, I did do a search before posting, but didn’t spot these.

I changed the brake fluid the other day, didn’t realise the clutch used the same reservoir. Will finish the job .

Steering fluid, will do an ‘eye ball’ check and take it from there.
