Anyone got one of these? Just wondering what the quality and fit is like. The price seems very good …
I think that is the one that I have in mine, it was 2 and a half years ago now, so not 100% sure [:$]
If it is the one, its stood the test of time well, and hasnt blemished or discoloured at all.
Fitting was really easy, just undo the tops ofthe seat belts drop it on and rebolt. It does need to go in a certain way round or you will lose the amount of space you have to move the seats back.
Seems a good price. Same as the one www.mx5parts.co.uk sell. They regularly have them on special offer for £99.
Here’s a link…: http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info.php/products_id/143
Are you sure it’s the same as the MX5Parts one? The Ebay one is a Griffin, and the MX5Parts one is IL Motorsport (well, that’s what the copyright on the photo says, anyway). The Griffin one looks to have a much steeper angle on the inner edges of the hoops, too - the MX5Parts one seems to slope more towards the centre. The windblocker also looks to attach a different way on each of them (loops around the uprights on one, flat strips of velcro on the other).
Another slightly more expensive option are these…available in either black or silver.
Same make as mine (Mike Satur). Not sure from the pictures how the glass fixes on or if it hindges down like on mine but could always ask.
Heres a couple of pics of mine if interested.
Those look nice, Dave, but they’re a bit ‘busy’ for my liking. All that metalwork behind the headrests, the thick black border to the windblocker - I prefer something a bit ‘less is more’, if you see what I mean. And I prefer the way that the plexi windblocker on the Griffin one comes off completely and can sit in the pocket behind the seats - that way, with the roof up and the windblocker off I can still use the ‘parcel shelf’ if need be.
Gareths right, its not the same as the MX5 parts one, which I have - however, I’m not that keen on the look of the windblocker on mine as I needed to use some black rubbery clips to help keep it in place (supplied) and clear plastic velcro straps which just look a little shoddy. It is not clear from the Griffin how exactly the windblocker is held in place.
I do like the look of Daves and think I would have gone for that instead.
Well, I’m still on my quest for a wind blocker for my '5 - dithering over the Griffin one on Ebay, one of the Tuning Evolution ones, or possibly a Mike Satur one (I noticed from his current Ebay listing that he supplies them in black as well as chrome, which I think would be better for my car).
I’m trying to find out whether the item in his listing is a complete blocker/bar assembly, or just a windblocker to go onto an existing style bar … and I’m coming to the conclusion that he doesn’t actually want to sell any [:(]. I’ve sent him a message on Ebay directly from the listing, and not had a reply … and I’ve attempted to e-mail him from his website with the same question, which just results in a “cannot resolve this domain” error message no matter what e-mail address I enter for myself (I’ve tried three so far, none of them work). Even if the e-mail has got through to him despite the error message, I still haven’t had a reply.
Perhaps he’s doing so well with his MG parts that he doesn’t actually need to sell any MX5 windblockers … pity, because he’s about to lose a potential customer …
Dave is yours (the link that is) just the windbreaker or the stylebars as well? I can distinguish on his ebay site do you know?
Its worded like it
s the complete thing as mine one is but worth checking with them first as to what you get for your money.
I’m also trying to determine that at the moment, Harco. But no-one at Mike Satur seems interested in replying to my e-mails and Ebay messages. [:(]
just fitted the one from tuning evolution last night its made by raceland same as mx5parts and IL as far as i can tell
no instructions but tbh there is no real need for them
also got the windbreak aswell and that seems like a decent quality bit of kit and all in it was 104 from belgium delivered in 3 days ! its alot cheaper than teh mx5 parts or il one
Just has a look on the Mike Satur web site and he doesn’t seem to be doing any MX-5 stuff, it’s all Boxer’s and MG’s.
its only on his ebay listings
his customer service via ebay is very poor to be honest took him ages to reply to my message and even then it wasnt a reply to what i asked ! and it was a simple question can i have a picture of it in black please !
Yup, that was one of my questions, too! (I think black might look better on my Twilight Blue mk.2)
if its light blue id say shiny would be better
Ok guys here is a plan.
Below is a link to Mike Saturs Ebay account detailed feedback. Half way down he has sold one of these to a happy buyer. Contact that buyer & ask if he has pictures of it on his car & what you get for your money…And while you are at it recommend the forum to him [:D]

Twilight Blue
a.k.a. Racing Blue Mica - about as dark as a blue can get before it becomes black [;)].
