Summer Playlist

Well, I noticed there have been quite a few good music posts lately and although I am sure this has already been done in the past, I thought I would start a thread for a best summer driving playlist, now that errr, the summer is looming. (as I look out on the snow in my garden)
When I was young it was tapes, yes tapes, for things like Bat out of Hell and, god help me, Eye of a Tiger etc etc. An 80s new driver. Now I have Thin Lizzy’s greatest hits. The Boys are Back in Town is a great driving track. So over to you guys and gals, When out for a nice spirited drive, but wanting an accompanying sound track, what would your choices be?

Now you mention Thin Lizzy, as I was blasting around the lanes here in South Derbyshire yesterday up popped the track by Metallica “whiskey in the jar” love that version. Many more, mainly 60’s & 70’s but most have to be what my missus describes as “giddy up music” for driving to.

Love that phrase. :grinning:

Best “giddy up music”
White Room - Cream
Gimme Shelter - cover version by Thunder
Stranglehold - Ted Nugent
Morning dew - Jeff Beck
Whole Lotta Rosie - AC/DC

Best for a top down cruise (with a little one-handed air guitar)
All the Time in the World - Deep Purple
Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming - Deep Purple
Purple Rain - cover by Beth Hart and Jeff Beck

Hmm! I must start listening to some of these.

Here’s a short playlist I like to enjoy in the car.

What is this new fangled magic called Spotify? Lol. Good tunes. Fool on the Hill. An unusual, but good choice. Nice to play on the guitar, too. A commercial cd in Zep terms, but I do like it. I have the cd of ‘In Through the Outdoor’.

For other occasions this fits the bill, one of the joys of Spotify being able to compile genre or mood lists and carry them with you in your pocket.

I do still buy CD’s of artists I want to support directly.

Great stuff there Ian!!! :+1: :grinning:

I stream all my music through Carplay with Amazon music, and they come up with playlists for you based on music you have listened to and they do come up with some good stuff. An album I like to listen to when I have the top down though is The Very Best Of The Beach Boys and if you’re a car guy or gal how can you not like lyrics that say, She’s ported and relieved and she’s stroked and bored or she’s got a competition clutch with a four on the floor.

Fantastic idea for a thread with Summer just keeking round the corner, in spite of the snow the last couple of days!
I’m saving the typing and taken screenshots of my ‘driving’ playlist- some absolute crackers on there. All hard rock/symphonic metal. Although, if I feel like something a bit more classic, I tend to go for a bit of Alice Cooper, Whitesnake, Foreigner, Eagles, Heart, Scandal etc…

That is a great playlist. Funnily enough, I was playing Heart the other day. Barracuda is a fab track!

Heart are brilliant and still on the go, I believe! Also enjoy a similar band called Vixen

Never heard of them. I shall have a look. The name alone summons an image if nothing else.

Yep. I was right!

Here’s another one to add to your list. Very 80s feel
