I don’t think this review from EVO Magazine has been posted on here. Apologies if it already has .
I’m liking this review, as this chap also didn’t like the bump in the drivers floor…
it must be a thing us folk with short legs only worry about…
I reckon that the Mazda design team had a model/dummy with exactly the same size and shape as me 'cos everything fits me perfectly!

Latigo Canyon is near Malibu, California - I want it in Essex…
Interesting comparison between the 1.5 and 2.0.
The 1.5 is very close in performance terms.
Mazda MX-5 1.5L v Mazda MX-5 2.0LTrack Comparison Review
Or perhaps there is a big difference.
I find this is a more accurate assessment for the UK cars and concurs with my impression having driven both of the cars.
autoexpress Sutcliffe gets a number of things wrong:
-
about £4k more for a 2.0 … no, it’s £850
-
2.0 is about 100kg heavier … no, it’s 25kg (both cars are Sport spec)
-
2.0 gearbox not as sweet … no, it’s the same!
To each his/her own! Get whichever model suits you and your driving requirements, and enjoy it. If you’re happy then anybody else’s opinion is immaterial!
Both cars are NOT sport spec, Look again: 1.5l: body coloured mirrors, silver alloy wheels, cloth seats = SE-L (Nav?)
2.0i: body coloured mirrors, silver alloy wheels, leather seats = Sport
I’m not sure if this has been shared already, well worth an investment of 8 minutes of your time, of course with this audience maybe preaching to the converted…
