That’s only when she cat-burgles her way into my bedroom and leaps on me
Yep, that’s a pretty big impact.
Sea shanties …? What fresh hell is this ? May the saints preserve us - now where’s my ear defenders ?
Beat you to it Rob! See my post #68. To keep your cat happy look up the version by Gingertail.
You little Devil.
That was MINE!
Wot! You’ve never had a shanty sing-song with yer mates down at the “Yawl and Lugger”, whilst supping your grog when you splice main brace after the sun’s passed the yardarm!
You ain’t lived!
You’ve got to remember we aren’t all as old as you and were around when these sea shanty type songs were pick of the pops.
He may have even written a couple…
This was even in the days before tunes were written down
Led Zeppelin
Oh come on! I’m not THAT old!!!
I had just turned 8 years old when for the first time I found myself not so much listening to music but for the first time feeling it raise the hairs on the back of my neck.
It was during the Easter Holidays in 1967 that I found my self at home alone, parents out working, when I took it upon myself to turn on the new radio gramophone that had entered the house.
I found myself listening to the radio, I am guessing it was the BBC Light Programme, when the DJ announced a new ditty by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, following the DJ’s advice I turned the volume up and over the next couple minuets I felt something profoundly move me in away that was part roller coaster and part deep insight in to a world far removed from anything I had hitherto experienced or even heard talked about.
Incredibly 54 years later I occasionally still get similar feelings when listening to music I have never heard before that moves me, be it on Radio 1,2 or 3, I guess I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the great James Marshall Hendrix for opening not just my ears but my whole being to the wonderful world of music.
I played this today, hood down in lovely sunshine, stopped in some forests, had a coffee in some little farming backroads. No irritating humans in sight…just some kites & squirrels.
It’s an inspiration to me anyway.
One of my all-times favourites and one that’s easy to sing along with
Classic track. How can anyone not like The Eagles
So many wonderful tunes!
I agree. Had tickets to see them at Wembley last year. Look how that turned out
