Thanks Saz. That was very interesting. There will be a fair few takers for this one I should think . So glad they have included the soft-top as well.

Hmm, if I was forced to choose, I’d go soft top as needs the black of the roof to break up the er orangyness. Would like to see in natural light/ flesh though.
Agree not over keen on the colour but perhaps will look better in the flesh or in daylight ??
So a “soft top” and an “RF type”, am I right? And the colour…a bit too Ford ST for me.
Like it a lot. Numbered plaque on the rear arch in the worst place for gravel rash. I would want that moved inside.
Am I right in thinking that the US prices are around US$34,995.00 for the soft top and US$37,595.00 for the RF and if so the UK prices will be similar in £Stg., not cheap!
£29,895 for the RF and £28,095 for the Roadster - it’s all on the Mazda UK web site now.
We get 600 cars in the UK, so 100 more than the States. We get 400 roadsters and 200 RF’s.
They are a bit like a later (orange) version the Sport Recaro or the RF Launch Edition. I am just wondering if a few more black bits (Aero Kit) would break up the orange a bit and possibly a black windscreen surround for the RF. I really like those wheels but the Recaro seats won’t suit everyone.
Ace… Stunning colour. but coming from Wolverhampton I would say that…
Love it… at last something vibrant.
Not bad, but no mention of any engine tweaks like the previous Anniversary models.
Colour looks very similar to 949Racing’s Supermiata.
Yes, like all the previous Anniversary editions, these have no engine tweaks.
Just in case someone thought the 10AE, 20AE and 25AE had engine tweaks.
Tweaks as in “specially selected” engine components in the 10AE and 25AE.
And the Sport Venture
Link? A lot of the 10AE engines in the US had to be recalled as they were duds. Strangely, UK engines weren’t. Maybe the US engines had the special components (duff endcaps).
Seems like internet lore.
It’s mentioned in the 10AE brochure at the time, hand picked engine components (pistons, con rods, flywheel) for better balance and response.

25th Anniversary details here, basically the same, may only apply to the 25 Japanese models

Marketing tosh for the Japanese market.
The 10AE Flywheel, engine components and LSD were all standard items and found in other models, chiefly the RS spec mk2.
Interestingly the cats ■■■ reverse camera has been shopped into that image, the Mazda press image does not have it
Japan 25AE model was completely different to ROW.
I remember the marketing for the 10AE when it was launched. You cannot call these tweaked engines. Its a nonsense description from Mazda as it implies that the other NB engines are made with below par components. Note, this is very different from the M2-1001 which wasn’t even assembled by Mazda. In the end, in 1999, 1 in 6 MX5s built were 10AEs (7500 cars out of 46,000). What you are reading is marketing material from Japan.
Other 10AE marketing material:
No mention in the US brochure, which is telling. Perhaps in Japan they can get away with being economical with the actualitie.
Just watched the video, and although I’m not a huge fan of the ND I really like those two! Pitty there wasn’t any performance upgrades although maybe the brakes are upgraded, or are they just painted to look good? Can see these selling easily. If I had the money, I’d love to buy one and just put it away in a garage and only use it sparingly to keep miles as low as poss.
Althougbh I can’t see the ND becoming a modern classic in the way the NA’s have done (with the NB’s close behind), I think there may be a decent investment potential in the 30AE. Anyone else think that?
thread made sticky, 'cause it’s important!
