The MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition officially spotted today!

Nice…but sorry! not at reported £28 grand for soft top. Sooner buy a second hand GT and save £4 grand

Sold out in the States already, all 500 are gone…

John

Crikey! £28K+ for the convertible. It would be a lot cheaper to get a new SportNav GT+ for around £23/24K and get it wrapped and buy the other bits. And, err yes, the reversing camera will stand out like a ginger tom cat’s bum on that colour

Sport Nav GT+ starts at £25,795 (and comes with Sand leather only)
Sport Nav+ £24,795

Wrapping? what would that be? £1500?

The standard Recaro seats are about £1500
Alcantara Dash £365
Alcantara Doorpanels £480
Alcantara Gear and Handbrake £290

None of which will have the 30AE detailing

Carplay £350

The Rays wheels will be pretty close to £1700 - but are unique for the car (you can buy similar set from Rays ZE40)

The Brembos / Nissen upgrade probably over £1000  (not perviously available in the UK).

30AE Badge will be unique and irreplaceable. and Probably come with some other 30AE welcome owner gifts

Stack all that up its a decent package on the standard cars

Just looked on the Mazda UK website and although the 30AE is headlining on the front page it doesn’t appear in the list of available models on ‘build your MX-5’. Could they all be gone already?

Not released to rest of world yet.

We’ll have news on the UK timeline just as soon as we get it from Mazda.

Had an e-mail from the dealer(from Mazda?) I bought my ND from inviting me to “register an interest”.

Appreciate what you are saying Ian but I am buying my brand new Sport Nav GT+ for £23K. You also need to take into account the actual value of the components being replaced, so the cost to Mazda of the upgraded parts is not just the price that you are listing but the difference between the two sets of parts. So really it is not as good value as it might appear. I very much doubt you would get any sort of discount on a new anniversary edition as Mazda will know that demand will be high. It may sound cynical but I would think that Mazda are making a lot more money on these cars compared to the standard car.

Anyway, there is a value to exclusivity and there will be no shortage of proud owners

On list price it is around £2k over a standard car. Doesn’t sound a bad deal.

However as a standard car can be had with around £3k discount, if they don’t discount the 30AE the effective £5k difference doesn’t look enticing.

If anybody does buy one can you look after it for around 3 or 4 years as I’ll be interested in taking it off your hands then.

I paid my deposit this morning and had email confirmation back that I’m on the list. At 9am 20 people had already paid a deposit so they will not be around long. 400 soft top and 200 RF for the UK.

No reversing camera on it. It’s based on the Sport Nav + not the GT.

I am sorely tempted!!!  Would match the Exocet nicely

Just wondering what the insurance premiums will be like.  Hefty?

Lovely colour, but ill stay with my arctic.

Tried talking the wife into it saying it would match her  orange new Vitara but she’s not having any of it…yet !

Why do you think that?  I don’t expect it to be much more than I’m paying for my 2017 Sport Nav today.

Special edition, special paint/trim, low numbers, insurance companies taking advantage.

That’s good news. At least when you go to your car in the morning you won’t find it scratched to bits by the local Toms.

It’s a lovely car, you will really enjoy having it

Good for anyone that is in a position to buy one, a great car in a really stand out colour. Well done Mazda.

“Bang” goes the chance of Orange being among the choice of colours for standard cars now it’s become a “special edition” colour.
