Remember the fun you had at previous Silverstone Classic events?

Well, we are excited to announce the return of The Silverstone Classic 2010 on the 23th 24th and 25th July.

The Silverstone Classic is now firmly established as the biggest classic racing festival in the World and the 2010 event will be bigger and better than ever before. At this year’s event you can expect to see 800 of the finest classic racing cars in the world, up to 1,000 drivers and 23 races across three days of sensational action on the famous Silverstone Grand Prix circuit. Furthermore, you can expect to see live music from The Yardbirds, Dr Feelgood and many others including finalists from the X Factor.

This will be proper classic racing, not theatre, as hard-charging racers do battle in cars spanning five decades of motor racing heritage.

And as for the cars on show…

The display of classic cars will be vast, some 4,000 cars will be on display from over 70 different clubs, many of which making The Silverstone Classic their major annual event for the year. A full club listing can be found by clicking here.

Celebration of F1 returning to Silverstone for the next 20 years.

We are extremely happy to have F1 coming back to Silverstone for the next 20 years. The 60th anniversary of the race held here will be marked during the Silverstone Classic by six races for Grand Prix cars from the late 1940s through to the early 1980s. The early years of the British Grand Prix will be re-lived by cars and drivers from the Historic Grand Prix Car Association, racing in pre '61 and pre '66 contests, while the 1970s and early 1980s will be brought to spectacular life by two races for the cars from the Grand Prix Masters series.

The race action, which runs throughout Saturday and Sunday, will take place on the Silverstone Historic Grand Prix circuit, and follows much of the course used in 1950. That includes the challenging Bridge Corner and the Historic version of the Vale, both tremendously popular with racers of classic cars and fans alike. A full event timetable can be found by clicking here.

We look forward to seeing you on the 23th 24th and 25th July for a great weekend of Classic Racing and of course, don’t forget the vast array of off-track attractions, hot rod demonstrations, period fun fair and parades guaranteeing a memorable day out for all the family.
A video of what is to be expected can be seen on the homepage.

D.J and I will be there with Grace for the 3 days, but we will not be camping

Unfortunately MXI 861 is now in the auto graveyard - took it down for welding and respray, once they got the bodykit off discovered that the rust was far worse than expected.  Poor car was rotten, and uneconomical to repair.  It has since been stripped of bits (some of which are now on a popular auction website!) but it means that the car won’t be on the stand now…  Had got camping booked as well - does anybody want to buy (or know anybody that would want to buy) the tickets and camping spot that’s been booked?  Prepared to do a deal on it!

mx5 or no mx5 I would still be at the Classic, as its brilliant… so why sell the tickets ?

Bad news everyone, Silverstone are nolonger issueing passes for the club stand. Anyone ordering tickets after the 1st July will not receave a car pass.

See email below

Dear All,

As you know the 2 for 1 offer ended last night and we made the decision to stop all car club bookings at that time. Members can still book and purchase entry tickets at www.silverstoneclassic.com but no more car passes will be issued, so they will unfortunately be unable to park their cars with their clubs.

We decided this to ensure we have space for the car clubs and their members that have already booked. The Classic is more popular than ever this year and we are anticipating a terrific weekend, however based on the increased number of clubs, together with a reduction in the space available at the track, we felt this course of action prudent, and whilst some will be disappointed the vast majority we hope will be pleased.

I shall before the end of the week send your clubs final booking update along with the plan of the circuit with your clubs location. The posting of tickets has started, so you and your members should be getting these in the very near future. I look forward to seeing you at Silverstone.

Very best regards,

Charlie
