Timepieces - What's on your Wrist or in your Pocket?

Having just spent £470 having them both serviced, I think I’ll pass on your offer

The guts (movement) of a Koh Samui special

I have a JDM mid-70s Seiko, with Kanji date, and a funky green face. Its dead, due to the scumbag online dealer not bothering with a seal for the back when “restoring” it. Not worth fixing.

Also a Pulsar (Seiko) Kinetic kicking about someplace, that I need to get restarted.

Here’s a challenge for any keen Googlers. I vaguely recall seeing an Eunos (or maybe Roadster) branded Tag Heuer years and years ago. I’ve looked online to try and find out if my memory serves me correctly but have failed.

Why do people who never wear a watch feel the need to comment on a watch thread that they don’t wear one ? Seems kinda weird to me…but maybe they’re the same type that don’t watch F1 (or whatever) and need to tell people that they don’t watch F1 (or whatever).

Yup.
Just people being what they want to be really.
One reason I’m happily retired tbh.

I didn’t wear a watch for years, but come the digital age had several very small digital clocks I kept in my pocket, then a trip abroad meant it became easier just to have the time on my wrist so just got the cheapest Casio as all it needed to do was tell the time. The battery ran out, just went and got another, did that several times but still only wore when traveling. More recently got a retro digital Casio, to counter all the posh stuff others seemed to wear all the time on the basis that all it needed to do is tell the time! But now a confession for last couple of years I’ve become fascinated by the high end and retro stuff and have spent a lot of time reading about watched on several of the excellent websites such as Hodinkee and Worn and Wound. It’s a fascinating world. I don’t have anything posh even now but recently bought a Casio World Timer as loved the look of it, still not worn it, have a Skagen which I love as the style is so simple, and of course the obligatory Club Anniversary Watch, still never worn that.

After my superb 1950s Eternamatic was run over by an artic I didn’t wear a watch for many years until a free one came with a pair of Dunlop Green Flash trainers. When it’s battery ran out the watch repairer said the plastic ‘Dunlop’ watch was broken. (It wasn’t before he opened it,****.)

Then nothing until a major wedding anniversary and we bought each other a his and hers pair of basic slim light tasteful Tissot watches in a JL special deal.

I’ve tried others but modern watches seem too box-tick feature-laden and bulky and I always hit them on door frames!

I’m still wearing the Tissot.

You’re just being pedantic, however……

I like Citizen Eco-Drive (inexpensive, good quality, reliable and never need a new battery), so I have a collection for use on all occasions. No, I don’t wear the little one, its the wife’s.

Also in there is my OC 25th Anniversary watch (needs a new battery), plus I have this still in its original case but never worn these days

And for when I wear a waistcoat…

Spooky!
I’ve one identical…bought it so long past I cannot recall when.
It’s been bang on perfect bar a few batteries.
Second from the right.

My son’s 21st birthday Tissot is beside it last on right.
He wore it a bit joined the Army, gave me it back “to look after it”.
Now he does not want.
Wears a cheap G-Shock which has survived 3 deployed tours in The Sandpit and Brecon Battle School making stuff go bang.

I have to ask, who did you work for that a Breitling is part of the uniform!?

Can you get me a job!? :joy::joy:

Actually, I’m quite relieved to see in this thread I’m just a budget watch ad hoc buyer in comparison with others. SWMBO thinks I’m a spark plug short of a 4 pot, but then…I’m not the one with 2 multi shelf jewel boxes fed over 46 years which would keep an auction house busy for a day. Or two.
But…that’s “different”. :joy:
