I am ever so sorry to hear this john. I see countless people driving whilst using their mobile phones. What I don’t understand is when you see top of the range Range Rover drivers (surely they must have hands free?) and mothers with their children in the car driving whilst on their mobile phones. Like somebody says the penalties for doing this should be punished much more harshly. When driving without wearing your seat belt you are more than likely only going to kill yourself but if driving when using a mobile phone you are more likely to kill/seriously injure some innocent person. In my opinion driving when using your mobile phone should be treated as dangerous driving if not culpable homicide. It doesn’t matter if you only damage someone else’s car or kill someone the premeditated intent is there.
Sorry but it is not a mistake. It is a premeditated action that makes the act of driving much more dangerous and should be treated as such.
100% agree. Is it a ‘mistake’ the the driver personally decided to use a mobile phone when driving his car on a public road? A totally conscious decision to make, totally aware of the illegality of it.
My case is all apparently ‘done and dusted now’, too.
As I look out other window of my rear ended ND.
Can’t really believe I’m reading that. Bizarre.
Lastly from me.
I mean this in a friendly manner, (yes I have taken my time to reply).
I thought I would try and help you in understanding how the systems work, but clearly you want far more.
I think you are actually extremely fortunate that the police (attended that is) for a non injury collision and dealt with it in your favour.
I’ve therefore deleted my posts as you can’t accept that is how the system/s works or other peoples opinions that perhaps are “different to yours”.
It is a Forum after all.
Clearly, you have never done anything wrong, made a mistake, error of judgment and been an absolute angel all your life.
Blimey, you can’t bring back “hung drawn and quartered” for every Road Traffic Offence.
Each offence will and should be dealt with (through the correct procedure) on its merits, severity, evidence and indeed the “end result”, ( minor damage and Non injury).
No matter what you or I think.
I won’t bother trying further to explain.
I’ll leave it for the forum to conclude what they wish from that reply^
In my opinion, it is not worthy of me commenting any further.
Sympathies to the OP however this thread has just become an exercise in virtue signalling and has reached a natural conclusion of sorts.
