What fragrance do you use?

Looking for a nice clean car fragrance. Preferably non visible? How do you guys like it to smell behind the wheel when you don’t have the hood down and the fresh air? Any brand favourites? Am sure there can’t be many magic trees dangling out there. I could be wrong…?

Thiery Mugler ‘Cologne’.

Do you spray it on the mats, how long does it last?

?

I find that the V spec Mk1 s all smell the same. It must be the leather. It’s rather pleasant. My latest acquisition had a terrible chemical stink to it. I thought the vendor had cleaned something inside with Jeyes fluid. It almost made my eyes water. It turned out to be an Apple shaped green air freshener hanging under the glove box? It was a flat thing about 4 cm in diameter . Don’t buy anything that looks similar. Throwing it away made the car smell exactly the same as my other Vspec. My daily driver saloon really does have a magic tree in it. It’s the new car smell and I like it. However it has no similarity to any new car I have ever smelt.

I have never used an air freshener in an MX5, no point, we like the odour of fresh air.

This is the first car I haven’t used air fresheners in. I like the smell of the leather seats and keep these going with a couple of auto glym leather products

I tend towards Mr Zogs Sex Wax air fresheners, specifically the coconut ones. Out of packet, behind the seat, string tucked into the corner of the behind-seat storage. Not overpowering and one of the better smells I’ve smelled. This is in a cloth-interiored NC, for reference.

I rather like my car to smell of nothing if I can. Which meant my old Punto got a blast of Fabreeze after a long drive and that was pretty much it. I think you can get actual Fabreeze fresheners for your car if you’re of a similar inclination. The Mazda has had less issue because I just stick the roof down and blast it up an A road to clear any lingering odours.

I guess it depends on the car.

My Mk1 VR-Ltd has a lovely standard smell partially from the old leather to remind me it is a 21 year old car.

Couldn’t possibly consider masking that, I enjoy it.

Never used one in any of my cars.  No smoking, no pets (except for v-e-t-s), no smelly take-aways, etc.  I’ve always found air fresheners of any sorts smell awful in small spaces, and they don’t get rid of the odours, they just add another ingredient to the mix, URGH!.  With saloons or hatchbacks I’d vent the car regularly with the windows down, so no build up of stale air.  With the ND, hood down, let nature do the work!

Fragrance?  In a car?  Who does that??!!  I thought you meant on my person!

My Mk3 smells of Autoglym stuff, my other car currently smells of freshly sawn MDF.

The roof is mostly down in the 5, so I don’t see the point. I’ve never used air freshener in the Cee’d and despite it being 4 years old still has that new car smell about it.

What you needs is the new Mazda fragrance, “SOUL of MOTION Perfume Symbolizing KODO Design” Mazda got an award for it…

OMG, whatever next - but well done Mazda

My V-Spec’s fragrance is mainly old leather with underlying hints of petrol, waxoyl, exhaust fumes, and sock.       Luverly!

Yeah,

I thought it was about aftershave too…so I was gonna be real hard like and say 3-in-1.

Actually, I find leather conditioner wipes I use keep an nice “patina” odour on the go.

Any bad smells? Quit farting with the hood up, and drop the same pronto if you do.

THat’s the missing ingredient - sock!

Now, if they could bottle that aroma!

Mine smells of wd40 and deep heat

Mine probably smells of old banknotes…like all my other cars.
