Today I’ve given the car a good service then next week I’m fitting new discs and pads all round and giving it a machine polish
Spent the last two days washing, polishing , hoovering, soft top cleaning and reproofing. Off to work tomorrow as I am essential (firefighter), so a 40 mile drive with the top down.
I checked the battery of my SORN’d NB with my diagnostic smart charger and found it was at 40% capacity. After the necessary charge it’s now reading 100%.
I noticed that all the discs could do with replacement, corrosion rather than wear. I’ll get some ordered and will fit them before it goes back on the road.
Checked the MOT website and saw the test due date has been slid back by 6 months.
Replaced the electric window mechanism - only been broken about 2 years. Am feeling very pleased with myself!!
Some serious thinking to do there I’m afraid.
May be an engine out job.
My guys took the whole subframe out with the mill & tranny in situ.
Only you can say whether it’s worth it.
My mate says it’s sortable…so I’ve asked him to go ahead. I’ve too much into it in the last year to walk away…stainless exhaust, new soft top, hard top, discs and pads all round. I guess as i’m hoping to take early retirement it’s my new project !!!
He’s right. Anything is…with a suitable amount of folding stuff.
We were in the same position really.
Here we go then…
I did say i’d need to square him up in instalments !!! Forgot about the immobiliser bypass too…plus, i love the colour and enjoy driving it. So it’ll need to stay
Had the top down today, first time this year. I was on an essential mission getting shopping for my 82 year old mum so it was justified!
Giving the NC battery some more electrons to replace those that have escaped in the last three weeks.
Edit.
I forgot to mention it took seven hours including the finishing-off slow-rate hour or so; thus approximately another 20Ah put back into it, or about 1Ah per day asleep.
This equates to about 40mA average total loss rate, including dark current, battery self discharge, and occasionally waking it up to the higher standby rate (~300mA for 10 to 20mins) by fiddling around in the car although not starting it.
Put the roof down. At least it looks like it’s going somewhere even though it won’t be
Cleaned the tonneau cover. Checked the roof drain holes were nice and clear.
Did todays shopping (roof up).
Yesterday I did the evap cannister removal.
Today mines been washed, polished, waxed and a new vinyl number plate fitted
45rpm or 33.3333rpm?
I painted underneath as it was going rusty.
Fitted the Accumate charger lead to the NC’s battery as I was sick and tired of fighting hoses and clips to get the retard design battery cover off to get the crocodile clips on the terminals.
Spent all day washing, waxing & removing ‘splatter’ from paintwork after treating hood with Renovo the last couple of days…great result on the hood, but will mask off better next time !
