What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 1)

I didn’t realise these, turn up to your house sprayers could do such good work outside.

Saves leaving your car in someones lockup just for a little spray job.

Absoluteky. Put up a cover to protect against the rain, and off he went.
Certainly saves having to drop off cars and pick then back up etc.

@CeramicMX5ND2 absolutely! The worse thing is that it also happened to my last car. But managed to use a pointless dent removal guy. That said I’ve now shelled out about £400 repairing the things I take pride in just for these idiots to use as bumper cars. To say I’m now very particular where I park is an understatement. can’t wait for decent weather now to get out and have a good ol drive.

Agreed… When I park, I park a long way from the shop/supermarket etc - try to get a corner spot so at least one side of my car can’t be parked against! Slow lockdown and better weather are approaching too…

Mine didn’t need sanding, however I’ve not been for a drive since fitting them so I may stand corrected.

Did you try slipping them into the door cups before bolting to the door jamb?
I found them to be a bit too tight to allow the door to close smoothly and easily without sanding

Hi, is that the exhaust for sale on flea bay ?

Hi

Yes I did list it, I’m fitting it Monday but put it up for a high price to see if anyone wanted one badly enough.

No takers then

I doubt there will be, but have to try and see. Only listed it yesterday. Pretty much impossible to get a Cobalt exhaust for the mk3 right now.

The revised version was meant to be in stock Nov when I spoke to Moss around September time, then it was Jan 2021 when I inquired in Dec and now, no idea.
Generally seems hard to find a subtle exhaust for the mk3 unless you go custom.

Finally got around to replacing them wheezy air horns with OEM low and high horns. Of course, the horns were twice the size of the hole I had to get them out of, so required some manipulation, but got them out in the end

As the sun was out and it was dry, I also fitted the tonneau cover for the first time since buying the car. It needs a good stretch as it is very tight, it’s also filthy, so needs a good clean. Forgot what a faff they are compared to modern electric hoods, but it does look good when it’s on. Car needs a good cut and polish as there is no shine at all. Looking forward to getting some poor boys black hole glaze on it to make it shine

Stick the hood cover in one of these washing machine shoe-netting bags ( but not entirely crucial) put 2 Ariel tabs in, and set washing machine to a gentle/cool short program. At least it’s one bit that will go for a spin.

( I usually wait until The Long Haired Boss Person is out…cuts down on flesh wounds)

No. That would be far too obvious for me to do! :man_facepalming:

Took advantage of the rain and drove through a hugemongous puddle 4 times on my way to Aldi, then again twice 30 minutes later.
That should have gotten rid of some of the salt stuck underneath, necessary while I decide on whether a garden hose with jet gun is a better purchase than a pressure jet (I think it might well be).

Washed the car and went for a drive.

Did a 0-60 test. I’m hoping there’s a problem with my passenger doing the timing!! :snail:

Do you know that your wind deflector is fitted back to front?

What’s wrong is you had a passenger.
How disappointing was the figure?

10 seconds. With the roof down. With a 16-stone passenger.

Will try alone with the roof up next time…

Has anyone else tested their own 0-60 times?

I use an OBD2 WiFi/blutooth adaptor and car scanner app. It’s got a built in 0-60 0-62 0-100 etc timer. It’s repeatable and close to claimed figures. My ND1 2.0 does 0-60 in 7.1/7.2.

Nope! That’s the way the previous owner showed me :man_facepalming:t2:
